We must resign TW & JV.

My pleasure, bud! I couldn't agree more.

Here are some cap projections on what I feel it'll take to keep these guys and their 2021 cap hit (lower for 2021).

Unrestricted Free Agents: [2021 Cap Hit]
LT 71 Trent Williams - Resign to a 3-year, $19.3M APY deal [$15M]
CB 22 Jason Verrett - Resign to a 2-year, $10.5M APY deal (Bradley Roby - $10.5M) [$8M]
CB 24 K'Waun Williams - Resign to a 3-year, $8.5M APY deal (Kenny Moore - $8.325M) [$8M]
DE 92 Kerry Hyder Jr. - Resign to a 2-year, $6M APY deal [$3M]
FB 44 Kyle Juszcyzk - Resign to a 3-year, $3.5M APY deal (Derek Watt - $3.25M) [$2M]
NT 93 D.J. Jones - Resign to a 1-year, $2M APY deal [$2M]
LEO 98 Ronald Blair III - Resign to a 1-year, $1.5M APY deal [$1.5M]
TE 81 Jordan Reed - Resign to a 2-year, $2M APY deal [$1M]
C 63 Ben Garland - Resign to a 1-year, $2M APY deal [$1M]

Restricted Free Agents:
CB 41 Emmanuel Moseley - $3.259M (2nd round tender) [$3.259M]
RB 30 Jeff Wilson Jr. - Resign to a 2-year, $2M APY deal [$1M]
TE 82 Ross Dwelley - Resign to a 2-year, $2M APY deal [$1M]
SAM/SS 36 Marcell Harris - Resign to a 2-year, $2M APY deal [$1M]
LS 46 Taybor Pepper - Resign to a 2-year, $2M APY deal [$1M]

Exclusive Rights Free Agents:
T/G/C 60 Daniel Brunskill - $660K [$660K]

2021 Total Cap: [$48.5M]

We have $22.6M on a $176M cap before any other moves such as cutting Richburg and Ford or restructuring Garoppolo.

I'm very very wary of giving Verrett $10.5M a year, I doubt the 49ers go above $9.05M which is what Sherman got in 2018. Also not sure the 49ers will go $8M+ on K'Waun, I hope I'm wrong. I can see Hyder getting $8M-$10M a yr. I still think Juice breaks the $5M barrier, some team will be willing to give him it IMO, maybe the Jets, they wanted him in 2017, we outbid them. I see Trent getting between $18M and $20M a yr, but remember the GTD money is what matters. I don't see the 49ers having any high cap numbers for their FAs for 2021, so $15M is too high for Trent, same for the $8M for JV and KW. I think they backload the deals, the cap should be going back up in the next 3-4 yrs.

Also a deal for Pepper should be league minimum salaries, small like $200K signing bonus. His base would be $920K in 2021. I see them tendering Wilson at the 2nd rd level. Dwelley should be 1yr $920K deal, Harris will get the Original Rd tender IMO. I still see them tendering Mullens. Aloso Brunskill's tender will be for $850K.

I'm glad you added your $ projections on these guys as well. Often times it's pretty easy to slot these guys based on their skill set compared to their peers and respective cost. But not here esp. for Verrett and Juice.

AB - they have a third round pick, a fourth round pick and 3 fifth round picks in the 2021 draft. I think this provides the 49ers some flexibility in letting go some good players that probably are too high a price to be signed back to the team. Like for example if they lose Kwan Williams, Blair, Moseley, or Jeff Wilson Jr. - I think they can get those kinds of players in the 2021 draft without too much difficulty or using up any high round draft picks. Trent Williams and Verret are priority signings for them, as well as Hyder. Those three are going to cost a ton of cap space, such that I think, they are going to be letting go some mid-tier players and use UDFA and low round draft picks to plug those holes.

This kind of stuff is why I think we have the best fan site. Awesome summary of the entire franchise NC.

I made the mistake of clicking on a G Cohn link. Hate to admit it but he summed up my thoughts on TW well. I believe TW is looking to break the bank. Someone will and I don't think it will be the 49ers.

Unfortunately it's very possible. Who wouldn't want to be rated a #1 LT going into free agency during an era where these guys just don't ever hit free agency. He could get into a huge bidding war.

Here's that article. Kind of hard to disagree with it or at least see this perspective given he turned down an offer + his comments.

I agree they can let some guys go, but no reason to not tender Moseley and Wilson at the 2nd rd level, and Harris at Original Rd level, we'd lose Moseley & Wilson for nothing if tendered at original rd level since they were UDFAs, plus both played well, and should be apart of the teams future, as for Harris, he was a 6th rd pick, so we'd get a 6th if he was signed by another team.

I have no issue letting Blair walk, same with some others, the only players who are FAs that are must re-signs IMO are Trent, Juice, and try hardest to keep Hyder & Verrett, but don't overpay them, people get pissed whenever we overpay, then they want to overpay Verrett and Hyder to just keep them.

If Trent is true to his word, that he isn't looking at going to a rebuilding team, then most of the teams with a lot of cap room are out, like the Jags, Jets, I can see the Colts being interested, Costanzo just retired, but talk is they may move Quenton Nelson to LT, so I still think the 49ers are the likely destination, I never read Grant Cohn's crap, he's the biggest 49ers hater of anyone I've ever seen. If the 49ers offer Trent between $18M to $20M a yr, plus $40M+ in GTD money, he should be a 49er in 2021 and beyond. I'm all for a 5yr $100M deal, with $60M in GTD money.

I agree. No reason to let Mosely walk. I love Verrett and Mosely as our starters and they will likely look even better with a pass rush. If we come back with Verrett, Mosely, hopefully Williams, Moore, and Ward. Influx of athletic ability, youth, and hopefully some more turnovers.

Totally. Here's the important part.

They tried to get him to agree to a contract extension before Week 17 and he rejected it, according to reports. A few days later after the season finale, Williams explained why:

"I may want to see my value. I've been 11 years in this league, and I have yet to see a franchise left tackle go to the open market. I think it would be interesting to see what the value holds. Last year, I didn't feel like I had a very high value. I feel like I was devalued in a lot of ways. And I know I always put a good product on the field, but I think my character was questioned a lot. And there was a time when I was being told there were no suitors looking to trade for me. So I thought my value took a huge hit. I want to see what that true value is now that everybody can shoot their shot without having to go through anybody."
The Center position MUST be addressed this offseason, there's absolutely no excuse for it to rely on an injury prone Richburg again.
These are the C who could be available in FA:
  • Core Linsley
  • Alex Mack
  • David Andrews
  • Austin Reiter
Center prospects on th 2021 draft class
  • Rashawn Slater (can play any OL position)
  • Trey Hill
  • Josh Myers
  • Alec Lindstrom
  • Creed Humphrey
  • Jimmy Morrisey
I bet any of them would be just as good as Richburg. Linsley is the best of this pack as you saw how he dominated tonight the Rams DL. I don't expect GB to let him walk. Alex Mack would be a short term solution because of his age and decline, but even a washed up Mack is better than the guys who played the position for the 49ers this year. Andrews has been a beast for the Pats every year he has been healthy. Reiter is good for pass protection but mediocre for run blocking.
For what I care they could bring Mack as a cheap bridge C and use the second rounder on one of the guys listed above, starting as a RG first.
NC I bow to your supreme fandom.

HO might be head hunting you any day now. Just a pity NOCAL is a NOGO for a while.

One question though did i miss the coaching position for the female coach?
