LT Trent Williams - $20M APY - #1 Priority
C Corey Linsley - $11M APY - #2 Priority
CB Jason Verrett- $5M APY - #3 Priority
CB K'Wuan Williams - $4M APY
Option B:
C Alex Mack, David Andrew's or Austin Reiter - $4.75M to $6M APY + Rookie C like Humphrey
ER Aldon Smith or Ryan Kerrigan - $5M to $7.5M APY
Option B:
CB Bashaud Breeland - $5M APY
FB Juice - $4M APY
Keep an eye on the G bucket esp. Thuney:
G Brandon Scherff and Joe Thuney - $14.25M to $15M AP
‐---------------------
OL
Trent Williams - Laken Tomlinson - Corey Linsley - Rashawn Slater (#12) - Mike McGlinchey
Slater gives you position flexibility and security if we move off Mike McGlinchey next year (paying two high T's is very expensive). Linsley is your long term security.
Secondary
Jason Verrett - K'Waun Williams - Rookie (#43)/Emmanuel Moseley
Jimmie Ward - Tarvarius Moore
The rookie will be more of a man coverage CB with the new DC.
Edge Rush
A speed W9 ER for pass rush only downs is needed with Arik Armstead still expected to start outside in base downs. The fit is perfect for both Aldon and Kerrigan.
Picks:
(3 | 100+) - ER/QB
(4 | 108) - CB
(5 | 139) - S
(5 | 157) - SWR/PR
(5 | 160+) - TE
(6 | 170) - G/T
(7 | 194) - LB
(7 | 204) - ER
I don't see the 49ers being able to afford Aldon Smith, I know it's a different regime, new HC, GM, new executives(Adam Peters), but he could command more than Hyder will get, and I have Hyder at $8M APY, so what does Aldon get? He's proven by his 2020 production that he could be the EDGE that we all thought he would be, if he didn't have the off the field issues. If it becomes possible, then I'm all for it, I love Aldon Smith, he feels like the one that got away, only because he was a dumbass off the field, he would have had a 5-6 year deal at the time that would have made him the highest paid EDGE rusher, 4yrs difference between what could have been say $18M a yr, to now $10M a yr, may not seem like a lot, but that $8M difference adds up over time, plus the 5th yr option money he lost when he was cut after he final incident that led to his release. I want Hyder back badly, if Paraag could somehow re-sign Trent, Juice, Hyder, Verrett, maybe K'Waun, while either pay cut for Richburg or release & sign Alex Mack, get Dee to take the pay cut I think he ends up taking, and getting Aldon Smith, he would need to be executive of the year for pulling off those deals cap wise. I think the 49ers could do it, I just don't know if they would. The RFAs like Moseley, Harris & Dwelley are automatic backs after tendered IMO, and Brunskill ERFA tender too.
The only players that I had the 49ers signing were Beathard(vet minimum deal to compete), Bourne(looks like he's testing FA), Reed(vet minimum deal to compete), Garland(Would we need him with Mack on board & Brunskill as backup C?), Grasu(vet minimum deal to compete), Blair(Would he be needed if we kept Hyder, signed Aldon, Bosa returns, we have AA, & we'll likely draft an EDGE, & if Dee takes a pay cut, and returns from the injury & plays well, then I guess I answered my own question), Willis(vet minimum deal to compete), Jones(1yr 4th-Year Minimum deal, gets fully GTD $2.24 base salary, that only counts $990K against the cap, a $137,500 signing bonus, for a $1,127,500 cap number, but he could test FA), Walker(vet minimum deal to compete), Johnson(vet minimum deal to compete), Taylor(vet minimum deal, start season on PUP), Witherspoon(vet minimum deal to compete).
