Just Brunskill and Moseley left before they start tackling our own free agents.

Harris and Dwelley were likely 1yr $920k deals, brunskill will be $850k, Moseley should get 2nd rd tender of $3.384m IMO.

Do you think they both got less here but more GTD?

Personally I'd tender Moseley at original round. 2nd is too high and too much $. He's not a big risk loss. We did that last year with a couple we probably didn't need to.

we are so thin at DB, that we can't take that chance. Mosely is a good backup.
Agree.
With the increase in cap space and my wanting the nickel defense to be the base defense for next year, I'm all for shoring up the DB as well as the DLine positions. I think they are solid, maybe too solid at Linebacker. I want 3rd and 15 to be impossible to overcome when facing our defense.

You still get to match the offer though, right? The 2nd round tender just decreases the likelihood a team would even attempt to reach out because of the original tender cost (i.e. deemed too expensive).

The thot of bringing back Aldon, is fascinating. I posted last yr his resurgence with the cowboys, and he did well. Is he still the same guy who crashes around the TE and harasses the QB or is he 6 yrs older ,somewhat slower , but wiser.? I watched a bit of his play for Dallas and he did okay. Whether he makes it back here or not i will never forget the watch that was in effect as in "what did Aldo do to get arrested again?"

He was obviously just a young kid, talented as hell but wilder than a March hare. Later i wondered if chemicals has anything to do with it, but never found out . I did hear he really minded his Ps and Qs at Dallas.

But does he still have the same stuff where he can churn and burn? We'll see.

I'm not 100% sure, but I'd find it odd that they'd give Harris or Dwelley any GTD money on a 1yr deal, if they signed 2-3 yr deals then yes, but in no way did Harris or Dwelley have the same impact that Wilson did.

As for Moseley, I'd rather be safe than sorry, and just tender him the 2nd rd level, some team may come in and offer him a multi year deal, we get no compensation, would suck.

I don't think it's worth it, considering his background and past history. I think also the 49er defensive scheme as changed slightly and Kocurek might not like a guy like Aldon (or maybe he does) but I want somebody like Hyder in the draft that can contribute 8+ sacks and not have to be worried about getting DUI's and put the team on pins and needles whether or not the DA will charge him with jay walking or something.

Yeah.

You can always have a handshake agreement where Moseley can test the waters and if anyone offers him a better deal, we could match or beat. 1st and 2nd round tenders should be for bonafide starters who you plan on resigning long term. IMHO, of course.

FTR, i am not advocating for Aldon. He ruined many of my days and nites once upon a time. It was just a thot. It would be ironic tho, should it happen. I don't see our guys doing that.

Heh, its only a matter of time until Baalke runs the coach out of town, and takes over as HC/GM.
