Lynch is an idiot let's all be real. Love his loyalty and competitiveness but bruh 15 mil for 17 days of work.

Ever consider JL may have the dream job of his life once he hung ''em up on the field? And he is making plenty of money now for his wants, plus he is in the catbird seat of NFL…being a GM.

Probably every NFL fan in the world at one time or another, has a had a fanciful thot or two of being a NFL ( 9ers) GM. It's not realistic, of course, but we all can dream. Also it undoubtedly is a lot more satisfying and way more difficult to be a GM rather than a TV play by play guy. Lastly, guys like Aikman, Collinsworth, et al, are not "1 day" men. They travel to site of game, interview HC, GM, players…as many as possible…then prepare…so it isn't a 17 day job for the yr. Figure 2 days for travel, frequently not at home, etc.

John L has an incredibly cool job with great folks around him plus he gets to help build a championship team. And, he and HC are best buds. Not too hard a decision when you look at it in its entirety. And on a daily basis during NFL season he has a pretty fascinating 45 guys to hang around with.

But i know you posted that as "tongue in cheek".

Yup. Some guys want that thrill of winning or losing. Obviously Lynch is that type of person. This proves to me he legitimately loves his job and believes he is and has built something special in this organization. I hope we can all agree for as blindsided we all were when he got hired, he has exceeded expectations and definitely not the next "matt millen."

All of this. Sometimes it's not about less work and more money.
Lynch seems like the type who would want to "finish the job."

Well thank goodness he's still with the 49ers. His working and friendship relationship with Kyle is one of a kind. I don't think Walsh and McVay were as buddie buddie as John and Kyle are today. I also happen to think he does in fact run the front office and is doing a credible job being a GM and - it's not like he's never GM'ed before, considering he's been with the 49ers now since 2017. He's no longer a rookie GM but a veteran now.

insane. I mean he's already loaded and he could go back into broadcasting whenever I guess.

He is just playing hard to get to up his market price

McVay turned down $20M per 👀 reportedly LA is set to pay him $8.5M per

Won't be shocked if it's John Beck. He's currently NJ offensive assistant.
Get John Beck if not him find someone that focuses or has history of developing QBs. Losing Rich is probably for the better in the long run.
Beck certainly makes the most sense. I'll throw a name out there with absolutely no clue if he would want to do it but how about Alex Smith?

Give up his comfy gig with espn. I doubt it.

Jon Beck would seem like a logical choice

Years ago I used to work with John Beck's best friend.

Well do some detective work and report back
Why cant we hire some old farts to beef up treys qb school? Shanny sr, holmsy, norv. They could fill out his off season micro cycle. Anyone bough trey a copy of finding the winning edge? Building a champion? Lets go.
this guy groomed Jimmy? sounds like a win for us.
Time to talk about 49er staff in that thread. This guy is no longer with the team.
