This is Scangarello's best path to another OC job. By far and away, this will be the most talent he has in the QB room, assuming we make the right pick. Even though I'm not expecting much from Rosen, the fact is he was one of the top rated QBs in 2018.

Right, on his way back up the ladder I am optimistic that Scangarello can help with building up the 49ers' QB group. There's only so much one can do with players such as Rosen, but I am really excited for his ability to help develop our rookie QB. Assuming the plan really is to keep Jimmy G for this year, and of course plans are fluid, then I am eager to see if we can stay healthy and how things play out.

Maybe Scangarello can eye another UDFA QB prospect. Nick Mullens may not have worked out ultimately, but for an UDFA at Quarterback, I'd say that was a good signing. We got some good/great wins out of him. Go into camp with Jimmy G, Justin Fields, Josh Rosen, Josh Johnson, and an UDFA. The best an UDFA QB can hope for is practice squad in 2021, but once Jimmy G is off the roster, a backup job is absolutely in play.

Exactly. We will see how he coaches up Mac Jones. I believe in Rich.

The University of Kentucky is hiring #49ers quarterbacks coach Rich Scangarello as its new offensive coordinator, per sources.

A widely respected QB developer, Scangarello replaces Liam Coen, who took the #Rams OC job and left behind the zone scheme Scangarello knows well.

Well, I am pretty knowledgeable on many of our line and assistant coaches. I never understood Rich so much. Was he anything over average? Not much total success with BDN or CJ. I know many will say look at Jimmy stats grrrr
But was he really that good? I almost look at this as a blessing in Treys development.
