1. Quarterback stuff: Jimmy will be the starter Week 1. We will acquire another QB at some point in the draft, but not one of the top 4. Josh Rosen will finish a game.
2. We will make a big-ish trade at some point that no one sees coming.
3. We will trade down from #12 and draft Kwity Paye or another edge. We will trade up for someone later that will be seen as a big reach.
4. A lot of starters will get injured, but they will be less severe and most guys won't miss too much time. People will lose their minds over each one.
5. We will sweep the NFC North.
6. We will play in the Wildcard Round.

Sidenote: I don't know where this myth about us picking well in the later rounds comes from. We've hit on Kittle, Warner, Greenlaw, and to a lesser extent DJ Jones. Other than that not a single starter, and the only solid backups are Moore and once in a blue moon Ahkello. I think we've been mediocre at best in the later rounds, and IMO we seriously need to pick it up in that regard.
If there are 17 games this year, if Jimmy G is healthy, I expect this team to win 12-13 games with a last place record

Also UFA's we are the best in the league by far. I think that's what a lot of people were referring to.

So Jack you better get with the program...........

"Otherwise, I will have you both brought out to the hell where people are skinned alive, it's that simple, understand?"

If your standard is starter or better then yes I can understand how you would feel that way. I feel that's a pretty unrealistic expectation though.

In the late rounds you're looking for depth, guys who can handle limited snaps and contribute, fill in for a few games here and there. From that POV I think we've done well.

And there's also the UDFA's who have contributed that help build up that perception that we get quality later on. Breida, Moseley, Bourne, Wilson, Mullens (to an extent), Dwelley etc.

Reed and Smith were both taken from our PS and contributed elsewhere too so we're not picking absolute scrubs even if we don't get to hold onto all of them.
The D takes a step back probably around 10-12 range

JG will get hurt and miss at least 2 games

Kyle & Lynch again fail to address the IOL and MM will continue to absolutely suck

We finish 9-7

I feel like we haven't really gotten those guys. Besides the studs, the rest of our picks have turned out to be guys I really don't want to see the field. Contributing means more than being a warm body. We need to be picking guys who have the potential to compete for a starting job. The thing that got me thinking about this is when I noticed that more than half of LA's defense was 6th round and undrafted guys. Then you see O lines all throughout the league with late-round starters, whereas we have developed no O linemen this way. Basically, my standard for what constitutes contribution is much higher.

In this case I hope Rosen wins the battle if there is one. Because Rosen is a better athlete, can make every throw that Jimmy can and the throws that Jimmy cannot, has a better arm. And was really in a bad offense before he got here. I personally think Rosen has the talent to be twice the quarterback Jimmy is. As far as the arm goes like I said he can do everything Jimmy could do better, and he could do a lot of things Jimmy can't do for instance through outside the numbers

Lol! Yeah, apart from one of the best two tight ends in the League, Warner, probably the best at his position and Greenlaw, an excellent player. And then there were all the players who stepped in when the injury tsunami swept through the team. Your aspirations are ludicrous. Sorry but there it is.

Well, personally I would like to see these two, Beathard and a high draft pick battle it out.

As opposed to what, refusing to step in when guys got injured? By this rationale Brian Allen was a good FA pickup because he started a game. You don't get credit for having two legs and a pulse. I get the argument that we're good at drafting because we found two amazing players, but I think this is like the difference between average vs. median. It's susceptible to extremes. Consider this: almost our entire secondary is set to hit free agency and we don't have any reliable options to step in and hold down the fort for a year or two at CB. If we were better at late round drafting, we'd have a couple guys on the roster who could reliably step in and be at least average. All we have is Moseley, who seemed to take a huge step back last year. Looking at our OL, the only two guys we've picked, McKivitz and Skule, looked more like liabilities than reliable backups.

So, sorry, but I don't find your argument persuasive.

Likewise. Your opinions on the value of lower picks is entirely unrealistic,
