Very good offseason so far. Now bring back Trent.

I'm not saying it's too late for them to do anything, but to say it's a very off good off season so far? What?

Keeping two of their top three FA so far is good. The restructures of Richburg and Ford as expected. Williams hasn't signed elsewhere yet. So yes, very good offseason SO FAR.
Oh they didn't bring the top FA on the market? Whaa whaa. Meh whatever just bring guys who can contribute and keep building the right way.
It's funny to read these threads with people complaining and crying during gamedays, FA dates, draft days, etc. No matter what there's tons of crying and it makes me laugh every single time.

LOL. Literally added one player like Tom Compton last year. Lost another. Kept a few players of our own < $5.3M. Not one single position improved.

The long term FA solutions are already gone.

FA, like the draft is for ADDING talent. Not maintaining it. You can resign your own anytime.

You and I must have a different interpretation of "long term solution." Those guys usually don't make it to FA.

I was just referring to the number of 28 and younger FA's like Corey Linsley that could have been a 5 year long term solution vs. grabbing someone like a 36 year old Alex Mack and then having to use another resource in the draft and hope that together that ends up being a long term solution and play standards are at a Linsley level.

I've seen enough during this off-season to convince me of this. When we started FA, the Chiefs were tens of millions over the cap and now supposedly still our biggest comp for our own highest value FA? We went into this almost $30M under and we're struggling to add young guys who could really help the team and be a stalwart for years? People talk about how the NFL has changed in terms of players and plays. If anything the NFL has changed in terms of acquiring talent and the "cap." Who cares if you are going to be over the cap in 2-3 years if you're going to win now. Nothing is promised. Grab as much talent you can and reevaluate every year. Richburg and Ford were both multi year solutions. Okay that didn't work out. Restructure. Cut. Move on. Next set of FAs. Draft. Etc.

Saints, Chiefs and Bucs have taught me if you think you have a window open, get your guys and win this year. Clearly next year will tend to itself. You don't need to bargain bin shop for players every year and expect to compete.

I still don't get the negativity. The Patriots have been generally stingy in Free Agency too and they have amassed several Lombardi's along the way. Trent is the big prize in this year's 49er free agency. Whereas Dee Ford and Jimmy were the prizes before. I still can see them adding some more young free agent talent once the Trent Williams stakes have been determined. Free agency is only in day 2, and there's still lots more ahead that I think it's too early to be negative about the moves so far. Again, I think if they can land Trent, that's a big win in free agency and as for Alex Mack, yeah he's on his downward side of his career, but add him and a young raw OLineman (via draft or free agency) that he can tutor and that's a net positive win in my book. You are adding both depth *and* talent and game planning for the inevitable injuries' along the line with that move.

We are having a great FA so far, bringing back our priorities and shoring up some holes with good players.

We still have room to make more moves too. I dint see why a safety and a WR couldn't be added.

We're running it back again...exactly like last year. There's nothing wrong with that if you believe we'll be far healthier this year and that we'll hit on a few of the nine draft picks (only 6 last year and mostly late picks).

But to act like the roster improved at any position so far?

It's still a very tepid off season this far.

Yup, cant fix everything in one shot, but imo they are logically doing the best they can with the resources they have. If our defense goes from top 5 to top 13 that makes sense, but i expect the offense to play much better, which will help the defense etc.

It would be fantastic to keep KWilliams etc, but lets see how TWilliams deal affects our cap space this year. This draft will be maybe a big move for a future QB, otherwise o-line, secondary etc. Get younger and more depth where we need it.

We're not done yet.

Get a veteran presence into the WR and CB room. Especially CB.
