Worst case if we're maxed out I'm comfortable addressing the rest in the draft. Another edge, WR, CB, more o-line depth.

We're running it back again...exactly like last year. There's nothing wrong with that if you believe we'll be far healthier this year and that we'll hit on a few of the nine draft picks (only 6 last year and mostly late picks).
But to act like the roster improved at any position so far?![]()
It's still a very tepid off season this far.
Alex Mack is an improvement.
We signed a CB1, LT1, FB that does everything, an upgrade from Ford on defense just because Samson can be on the field.
Losing those players would've been a big problem. Keeping them DOES improve the team even if it's just because they're here versus another team.
What would be a "good" FA for you? This has been an excellent FA so far. Would be great to pick up Adoree Jackson or a vet WR but I'm very happy to keep our team together. It'll be nice to also have an off-season to gel.

That's like giving yourself credit for signing your name on the test.

What an insightful response.

Alex Mack is 35, and his grades have started to decline the last couple of years, but he knows this offense well, can jump right in, and gives the #49ers something they haven't had at the center position, availability. He's missed just two games in the last six years. pic.twitter.com/JGwej2B0Av

I live in Houston and all of these charges against him are bogus, so I don't think they drive down the price too much but hopefully I'm wrong.

The center from the Raiders would have been the better choice for a long term solution. This move was a done deal the moment Mack was told he wasn't coming back. Older, cheaper and a perfect scheme fit - that's our wheelhouse, or what Paraag is comfortable signing without much resistance. This isn't a negative take, we just know Paraag has a type of player he likes: mid-tier, older or a player with some injuries who can outplay his contract. I guess by definition that is #moneyball.
No hate, it's just that you have to limit the number of those players on a team.
And it's not a poor approach IF you still draft the youth that's just as talented to be trained by the Sherman's and Mack's and Sanders' of the world.
But let's say the you pay him $6M and use a 2nd/3rd rounder. That's getting up to $8-9M with two resources used and no guarantee that rookie ever reaches Mack production and talent.
Just pay the $12M and get a known all pro C for the next 5 years. I have this philosophy for the PRIME positions in this system LT, C, ER x2, etc

NFL will 100% investigate and Watson will 100% go to the union about this.
Buzbee used to be Bob Mcnair's neighbor....like literally lived right next to the guy and was/is a friend of the family. He even at one point insisted that they draft Manzel and has some influence within the organization. Everyone here knows this is a smear campaign and the Texans are a s**tty organization.

Lesson: Never believe a team when they pull out cap as a reason why they can't keep player(s).
This COVID cap affected year certainly proved that with teams WAY over the cap being real players in FA. Where there's a will, there's a way.

Theres no guarantee any rookie will be that good at any position.
If the Raiders are bailing on Hudson there must be a reason.
