He's good and doesn't miss any games.

That's good, I really didn't know much about him.

Exactly. I wanted a line of Trent-Tomlinson-Mack-Slater-Mac. But now it isnt critical to draft Slater and this gives the team so much more flexibility. Mack is a GREAT signing.

We literally just signed Mack and some are already looking for his replacement. He's in for at least two seasons barring injury and maybe longer.

Because he'll be 36 when the season starts and it takes a good 2 years for lineman to develop if you're lucky. 😁

2 years of Mack starting? The mental game is huge for a C...gotta get that rookie learning yesterday especially given how this system eats through OL.

I'm not worried if Mack is the Center for 2 or 3 years, we'll have a backup learning under him, Brunskill might be the #2 C this season even if he's the RG, he played well at C IMO. I'm glad John & Kyle have learned from mistakes, gave big deals to Richburg, Kwon, & Dee who yes had injury issues, McKinnon didn't, he was unfortunate, but I think Kyle realizes he doesn't need a high paid back for the run game to work. Obviously they missed on Solly, Foster, Williams(more Kyle cause John had him off the board), and Pettis in the draft, I'm willing to give McGlinchey 1 last chance, I'd turn down the 5th yr option, would be $10.88M. But it seems like we're adding players who fit better, Mack is what we hoped we'd get from Richburg, he played great in 2019, sucks the injury, it hurt big time, was All Pro/Pro Bowl like, better off he retires.

Obviously Solly was a mistake, but people who complain about passing on Mahomes or Watson, like Matt Miller, who had both Solly & Foster ranked higher than the QBs. Foster really was a mistake cause we trusted Nick Saban, no more, he had serious red flags, so did Aldon, so in yr 1, both Baalke & John drafted players who ended up being dumbasses off the field, glad for Aldon for turning it around.
On Hudson, traded to AZ with a 7th for a 3rd, no thanks, we got Mack without giving up picks.

Plus he'd cost us $9.55M and $10.5M in 2021 & 2022.

I don't see Pettis or Foster as that bad.

Pettis, like Trent Taylor, was part of the "small guys that can create separation" drafting strategy that we ditched for the "YAC club/RB-WR Hybrid" strategy.

Foster was a great player when healthy and on the field.

There's no excuse for Solly. Even if it wasn't obvious that he would be a bust (it was) we still had Buck and AA drafted in the previous two years and we needed a QB badly.

NFL Network's guys said Hudson wanted his release, cause he wanted more than the $20M he's owed over the next 2 seasons, so no way we were ever getting Hudson for cheap, and to have to give up a 3rd to get him, a 7th, and pay him $9.55M, Hell No.
Don't care if hes 40 and looks like Mike Webster at the end of his career... as long as he stays out there and prevents us from using a 4 man rotation at this position, I'm happy!

Not trying to be negative, but I hope we got Mack SUPER cheap. He practically waved a flag saying "I am begging to sign with the 49ers!". I would have rather had Rodney Hudson right now, but if there ends up being a large gap in what they sign for, then I'll be okay with this.

He gave up like 1 sack last season, that is really good.

Last year was not his best. His play dropped down a bit. He will be 32 by the time the season starts. He also has had a weight problem at times. He is listed at 300 pounds but looking at him last season he looked like 320.

Mack will be 36 and also comes off a down year, however, as others have said, his experience and protection calls will make a big difference. ...and then there is the $$$ difference.
