Even more interesting the Jets can change their mind a couple of times between now and then

When's the last time a QB from Alabama panned out in the NFL?

'Broadway' Joe Namath.

Maybe the Jets will draft Mac

Many of the posters in the first five pages, I think it was the running joke
The Zones front page on the April 1 article is going to be epic.
none of us have a clue what's going to happen. And none of us know which QB will have the greatest success. That said...

my personal opinion leans toward Zach Wilson. Although I've started watch fields highlights and dude is really good.

I watched Zach Wilson's pro day, watched his interactions, the way he carried himself and his charisma...I just like him. I think Wilson will be the guy if he's there, however I think the jets take him and we take fields.

if Kyle is comfortable with either QB i guess it doesn't bother me at all. Fields is bigger, maybe a little closer to mahomes body type than Wilson...he's like Johnny football with less "I'm the greatest ever" type Aura surrounding him.

My only thought.

1) it's interesting that John Lynch was at the BYU pro Day.
2) it's interesting the trade happens after the pro day like there was a conversation or something happened that they were like okay we have to do this now.

could mean something, it could mean nothing just thought it was pretty coincidental

When's the last time a QB from Oregon panned out before Herbert?

When's the last time a QB from Texas Tech panned out before Mahomes?

Marcus Mariota

The #2 overall pick from 6 years ago is a backup QB. Wouldn't say that "panned out", unless one's definition of panned out is drafting and grooming a backup at #2 overall for some other team.

I believe the news of the trade came before the throwing session started. Or it was just as it got underway.

I've said plenty of times, Lance if and when the game slows for him and he understands everything Kyle wants in his system is going to be headline in sports talk. You trade all they up from 12 for this potential not f**king Jones who is already who he is. Lance has the potential to win you games and make plays when things aren't completely working like a Mahomes

Key word there. Especially for a guy who has fewer combined throws from high school and college than the other top QBs had just this year.

still in the league "pan out" is a pretty low bar.

That's why you sit him behind Jimmy for a year.

Larry Kruger doesn't know s**t. Lol

Lol! This. Probably at least half of the posters on the Webzone are more knowledgeable than him. His takes are usually dog s**t

baby fat

Edit: My time in Alabama was hard on the waistline. So much good food and very little of it is light fare.

That's why he sits for a year under Jimmy not many guys are guarantees that's why the if is there and exactly that. The fact he's 20 and hasn't played much but you just can't deny the physical tools and everything I've read is that he's a football junkie and workout rat. I'm expecting Jones unfortunately but I just hope Kyle finally decides on a guy who can potentially make his life much easier and not have to depend on him calling a near perfect game scheming guys open.

They could have gotten mac jones with the 12th pick. sigh

Doubtful. His ceiling was starting to look like Carolina at #8 and some mocks have had him going as high as #4.

The 49ers reoortedly tried to trade up to #6, #5, and #4. So basically trying to get in front of teams like Carolina.

Well how hard did they try on #6, because Miami closed a deal on that within an hour of our trade and they gave up a lot less than we did. If Mac Jones is the target I would imagine Philly's #6 would have got it done.

ya that makes no sense

My working theory is that Lynch worked out a deal with the Eagles but either him or Shanny thought 6 wasn't high enough to get the guys they want. So they told the Dolphins we'll give you these picks and you call the Eagles and take the deal they agreed to with us. I think they know who Saleh wants and they believe their guy would be gone before 6 if they settled. I'm also a huge fan of keeping Garoppolo this year and letting the rook learn and get that chip on his shoulder.

Not sure that's helping a whole lot considering the lack of passing attempts he's already dealing with. He's got tremendous physical ability but there's zero guarantee that he progresses in all the other areas, especially the ones that matter most for an NFL passer. He's a massive wildcard. Maybe you end up with another Josh Allen, or you potentially wind up with another Jake Locker or Colin Kaepernick that never developed the mental aspects of the game to play with any sort of consistency.

I think he'd be the ultimate big balls pick by Shanalynch because while he has an incredible ceiling, his limited playing experience, especially against any sort of quality competition also makes him by far the most likely to flop IMO.

IMO, it's one of the only ways all this makes sense.
