Crazy day. We were all excited when we traded for 3. Now we are trying to accept the fact it is Mac Jones. Lol

How so? A cheap QB for 5 years. This take makes no sense.

I've lived there. Its actually nice. The downsides are dry air and a cult vibe.

Its not Mac Jones. Chris Simms and Kyle Shanahan are best friends. So close that they got matching tattoos. Chris Simms is a vocal part of the NFL media. Why would Chris Simms be blasting Mac Jones to the Niners rumors if thats who Shanahan actually wanted? Its called a smokescreen. Whatever Chris Simms says, I take as a diversion as to what SF is really thinking.

I'm not convinced it's Jones yet. I think they moved to 3 because from there we have options. If the teams picking at 1 or 2 do something unexpected then we may yet get Wilson, if they want him. If they don't and it turns out we weren't really locked in on any particular guy behind the consensus top two, then we can hold the slot to ransom for some crazy desperate team and maybe end up with a net gain on the transaction. Or, we do take whoever the brains trust has decided is the best of the rest.

OK...it's taken me a while to catch up after starting back around page 40 or so of this here thread. So I'll just say this.
" Risk is the price you pay for opportunity "
Our FO has made a bold move and for what little my internet opinion is worth; I feel it's a good move at the right time.
1. Who knows what QB the FO will pick, and at this point it doesn't matter yet.
2. They had to make some very good moves in Free agency to get to set up this trade, i.e. Spending a lot of $$$ in FA
3. If I trade you 3 Volkswagens for 1 Ferrari it means it took 3 items to get one item.....
4. Our FO did not trade up just to trade down
5. It does have to do with the FO confidence in JG and his cost beneficial analysis overall as to the cap
6. Miami was the only team that was willing to trade down

The Bears offered Seattle 3 first round picks for Russell Wilson. If we offered that much for Mac Jones... Watch his film. His footwork and mechanics suck. He's always throwing the ball falling away. He's a 3rd round pick

If we draft a bust we have to use the next 3-5 years to find out. By the time we've found that out, its time for a rebuild, and everything they had going now will be torn down again. This is the biggest draft pick this franchise will make since Alex Smith.

It's not a smokescreen. They already made the trade and no one is trading up ahead of them for anyone not named Zach Wilson.

He does process the play really quick. Probably better IGmQ than any QB in this draft. Those back foot throws, he saw the guy coming open on hi back pedal and let it go.

I really hope its not Mac Jones. There is no intangibles about him that makes me get excited. He seems a lot like Matt Leinart, where he had all-world talent w/ the best receivers, the best RB in the country, and really good oline.
Justin Fields seemed to be very inconsistent last year from the games I watched. He got outplayed by Indiana's QB, looked like crap in the Northwestern game BUT then played great versus Clemson.
I'm intrigued with Trey Lance and thats because he is the bigger unknown with only playing 1 game last year.
Hope Jets surprise everyone and don't pick Wilson OR hopefully come draft day we swap picks.

I agree. At least Fields and Lance have 1 or 2 elite traits. Mac has zero elite traits, just very well rounded.
