I absolutely believe that is completely on the table. Playing high end rookies isn't nearly as daunting as it used to be, Jimmy is just average and if there is one thing that is absolutely certain, drafting a kid 3 over all and keeping your starter will split the locker room as easy as anything.

this is a tight group. they will not split over a QB. not a chance. leaders like Kittle, trent and fred wont allow that nonsense.

When Jimmy starts losing his s**t because the kid is breathing down his neck...there is nobody who can save that.

That or this is a leverage play and they fully intend to move Garoppolo like they did with Trent Brown but don't want teams low-balling them in trade offers.
