There's other players at BYU besides Wilson including Christensen who would fit well with the 49ers at OT or OG but yeah I don't think its a coincidence that this got done today. I think they're all in Wilson and the Jets might prefer Fields.
I do hope that at minimum the 49ers get Empey from BYU. He'd be a perfect center understudy for Mack in the 4th/5th rounds.
Do we know if the Jets were at BYU pro day?

What if the Jets trade out of #2. If they are not looking for a QB, they have a ton of holes to fill. Does Saleh immediately become a traitor?

Sure. Don't want to lose leverage there but money talks! (I mean draft pick)

Is there a play here to potentially trade JG & the 3rd pick to the Jags or the Jets to get to #1 or #2?
There is zero play with Jacksonville, they are going Lawrence... and I would assume there is zero play with the Jets since if there was that would likely be who they would of traded with.

Only other scenario already noted by NC, is a trade back for two # 1s...or 3... plus ... a high 2nd round pick and something else that is ridiculous. . I kinda hope that is what this is about. Just have a hard time keeping Jimmy this yr, with #3 pick in the draft on the bench all yr (or most of it), and not taking care of RT (unless McG is back up to 300-305 and all muscle).
There may be somebody out there that John already knows is ready to give away a slew of firsts , and a couple seconds for that #3 pick. It is NOT out of the realm of possibility. JL has great contacts with everybody and it could happen.

What if this trade is to secure The Mac aka Mac Jones?! I don't think it is BUT Shanny has traded up and reached on players he loves to secure them

Guys, do you honestly believe we just re-signed all these vets to win now, and were just going to dump Jimmy and draft a rookie? Common sense. Jimmy is the QB this year.
I absolutely believe that is completely on the table. Playing high end rookies isn't nearly as daunting as it used to be, Jimmy is just average and if there is one thing that is absolutely certain, drafting a kid 3 over all and keeping your starter will split the locker room as easy as anything.
this is a tight group. they will not split over a QB. not a chance. leaders like Kittle, trent and fred wont allow that nonsense.
When Jimmy starts losing his s**t because the kid is breathing down his neck...there is nobody who can save that.
What are you talking about.. drafting a qb is common in football
this kid is being taken 3rd over all....if a worth while offer comes for Jimmy he is gone. I don't care what they are calling to tell Jimmy, to try and save his ego and I promise you it will be a problem at some point this year if he stays. One bad game and the crowds will be out for blood.
That's a lot of chips on one bet. I don't see how you keep Jimmy when you've just placed all your future primo picks on the new guy. Transition year (injury risk) doesn't make sense if you can get some value for him now, especially with that cap number.

WOW!!! Did NOT see that coming. And for the price. Shanny REALLY like Zach Wilson.

all is fair in love and war.
i am sure the FO has battle planned for that scenario. (or they already know the jets will try to trade out)
