Good point.

Wilson is at least the equal of Herbert.

I think Lance is just as good as herbert.

Chargers did just fine.

I am going to assume the 49ers do not want to go 7-9.

9ers have a way better roster.

i am talking in terms of getting the QB ready for the season.

The 49ers can compete for a SB in 2021 with Jimmy. With a rookie QB, they cant. Plain and simple.

We're building a dynasty. Jimmy can chip in for 21' if he wants and Kyle and John let him but the Championship train has left the station.

Enjoy.

Makes sense to keep Jimmy this year.. if he plays well you can get a good pick for him next year, and if not you have your qb ready to go

I don't know what to expect from Jimmy's play knowing he's a lame duck. Why should he care how well he plays?

49ers aren't getting to a Superbowl with a rookie QB.... A healthy Jimmy G gets you into the playoffs.

We'll know soon enough. If they're going to deal Garoppolo then they'll deal him before the draft.

itll have to be a nice load of picks

If the Pats give us the same value that the Eagles got for Wentz, I'd take that deal in a heartbeat. 3rd rounder for 2021, and conditional 2022 pick (1st to 3rd)

I'm just trying to figure out what the plan is here.

Go all in for a SB this year with the current team and Jimmy while getting the new QB ready then what? Complete rebuild as they wont be able to afford to keep next years free agents.

I don't get it.
The plan is to build a long term competitive team

You can compete for multiple SB's with a good qb on a rookie deal.

How is having a QB on a rookie contract equal rebuilding?

They're gonna have a f**k ton of cash to spend on good vets and pay Bosa/Warner

Our offense relies heavily on the run game. Rookie could replicate what JG did in the playoffs just fine.

My want - Wilson

What will (probably) happen knowing the 49ers - Mac Jones

Scary but yeah...

Zero chance

This trade just opened up our Super Bowl window... We move on from Jimmy next year, get rid of his 25 mil+ contract and have our franchise QB on a rookie pay scale for the next 5 years. We pretty much just secured Bosa and Warner's next contracts.

Why won't they be able to keep the FA's? They will be saving a tun of money by trading jimmy and having a QB on a rookie contract.

You guys think they are targeting Wilson or Fields?

I don't think they make this trade unless they are good with either.
