The question I´m asking myself is if this trade was for Watson originally. And then with the lawsuit, they decided to go all in for a QB.
Honestly, that´s a little bit too much for me. For Watson, I don´t mind. But for a rookie QB??? For me one first rounder and two second rounders could have done the deal.
But well, kudos to Kyle and John to go for it. I´d love the fact they will keep Jimmy.
Now just draft an edge rusher or Kellen Mond.

Lying at this time of the year is required, and you have to do it well in order to keep other teams guessing while you keep secrets. It just the way it works.
Lynch seems like an outlier where he seems to be pretty honest. Even in interviews.
He can be "honest" at the time, but times change. The key is to keep other teams guessing as to whether you are lying or not. Lynch does seem to do that well.

I spoke to @49ers GM John Lynch after the team traded up to No.3. The move was made to select a QB and I caught up with Lynch at BYU QB Zach Wilson's Pro Day. 🤔 From Path to the Draft @nflnetwork pic.twitter.com/KTRZbdf1WS

Saleh HAS to be giving John and Kyle some sort of information on who they're picking. Otherwise this is insanely risky for how much compensation we gave up to get a quarterback that we're not sure is there. I can't imagine that John and Kyle have the top three quarterbacks all rated that high. And I really hope it's not for Fields.
What if the Jets trade out of #2. If they are not looking for a QB, they have a ton of holes to fill. Does Saleh immediately become a traitor?
We don't know if the 49ers spoke to Saleh..but considering the amount they gave up for that pick at this time is interesting. Usually, at draft time you would make such when when you KNOW your guy is there. In this case, you don't know...or do you??
So Saleh either likes Fields or Sewell? Or Baalke goes full on Baalke and picks Lance #1. What's to prevent Atlanta going to 2, Saleh still gets Sewell at 4 and gets boat load of picks?.

I don't care who it is really, I just hope whoever it is develops into our FQB.
Agree 100%. I think Fields and Jones will add their own flavor to a KS offense and could both be successful. Lance gives me anxiety since I just dont see the NFL accuracy and instincts to go along with that awesome arm, but if that's Kyle's pick its his pick... he knows more than any of us.

There´s still the possibility that IF the player the Niners like, is gone they trade down again. I would not be surprised at all if that happens.

My god this is chess moves. Keep Jimmy to groom the rookie for a year. Then trade him back to NE next year. Use the cap space to extend Warner and Bosa

for what the 49ers just gave up to get there, wouldn't they just have traded w/ the Jets directly?
thats the part of this story that people are missing.
Not if the Jets didn't want to move all the way back to 12. They could still trade up to 2 if they really want their guy. Maybe the Jets are willing to go back one spot instead of all the way to 12. It would be like what Lynch did to the Bears a few years ago

"100% means he's gone" - 95% of 49ers fans.

My guess is the 49ers are sold on Lance at #3 at minimum with the wildcard that Fields exceeds expectations at his pro day and 49er interviews.
NFL Draft:
Lawrence
Wilson
Lance or Fields
ATL is now in a prime position for teams to trade up for the remaining QB if they are comfortable with a big drop back. It really screws CAR as I think ATL will require an even greater premium to trade the pick within their own division.

They traded up so they can trade the third pick to Minnesota for Kirk Cousins.
