If you want Jones, you don't have to move all the way up to #3 to get him. You could easily trade up to the top ten on draft day if that's who you really want. There's no need to give up 2 firsts to get Jones when there's that much QB talent on the board. For this reason it means that Shanny/Lynch are thinking that whoever their guy is, he will be gone by #4. Show me one single recent mock with Jones going at high as #4.......

Yes. If they stayed at 12.

My guess is they didn't want to risk it with the Panthers. Matt Rhule worked with him at Senior Bowl and was impressed with him.

Nah. Could've traded with Detroit or Philly if they wanted Jones, that still puts them ahead of Car.

Mock drafts aren't worth the paper they're printed on after three or four

The question I´m asking myself is if this trade was for Watson originally. And then with the lawsuit, they decided to go all in for a QB.
Honestly, that´s a little bit too much for me. For Watson, I don´t mind. But for a rookie QB??? For me one first rounder and two second rounders could have done the deal.
But well, kudos to Kyle and John to go for it. I´d love the fact they will keep Jimmy.
Now just draft an edge rusher or Kellen Mond.

IF you offered a 1st and 2 2nds to move to 3rd overall they'd laugh at you and hang up.

They basically gave up two future 1sts which will more than likely be bottom of the 1st. They didn't lose a single pick in this yrs draft (2022 3rd) and are getting extra 3rds the next two yrs.

They can also move Jimmy some point to recoup some value in those future drafts.

They're drafting a QB at 3 dude. Have no idea where Mond is coming from. There isn't a EDGE rusher worth a top 25 pick let alone giving up yrs of 1sts.

You really think I was serious about Mond or the edge rusher?
And about the trade, I´m sorry but that´s a lot.
You assume that our first rounders in 2022 and 2023 will be low but who knows honestly? A lot can happen.
Hell this season, our team was ravaged by injuries and we play in a tough tough division.
If it was for Lawrence or Zach Wilson ok sure but the others?
I trust Kyle but it´s a gigantic risk.
I like it but I also know that people will b***h over this trade when Deshaun will be traded.

If you like a guy you dont wait for them. There is no guarantee he would be there at 12, one GM might think he is a 2nd round QB another might think he is the next Tom Brady... everyone has a different opinion. Saying X would of been there at Y spot is lame and just a way to armchair QB the draft.

once again, we have no clue what other teams might be valuing at QB. we've seen it happen plenty of times with QBs going higher or lower than they were supposed to according to mock drafts...

as far as we know, ATL wants Mac at 4, and maybe thats our QB too.

Hence why we are amateurs on the zone while the professionals are at pro days
Going to be crazy in here until the draft.

s**t, draft day will be even more crazy

A guy with Paul Hofer as his username should recall that Joe Montana won two Super Bowls after Steve Young was brought in to replace him.

Also see who won MVP last year after Jordan Love was drafted to replace him.

if a guy is a superior competitor, we should see superior performance (assuming he stays healthy).

Joe was not a lame duck. Montana played for four years with Young on the team. That will not happen with Jimmy. Jimmy will know he has only one year left with the Niners. Fans will be calling for the draft choice at his first incompletion.
Surely Shanahan and Saleh are close enough to talk who they want and be comfortable with current position/player in draft?
