Trey Lance highlights remind me of Kaepernick. I could have sworn he was about to kiss his tats at 2:38

Because they probably knew the Jets wouldn't trade.

Did you ever think the Jets might not want to go all the way back to 12?

if they can get him at #3.

Just by physical skills, he can do it all. Run threat. Big arm. He can do pocket passer, run pass option like Lamar Jackson, roll outs, throw on the run, playaction.

Probably better to watch complete (abbreviated) games of these guys. I think most of them by now have every throw of almost every game in their college careers.

First thing I thought about when I heard the news was the Niners have solid intel the Jets aren't taking Wilson at #2. If they were, then the trade is with them, not Miami. Pretty sure Shanahan wants Wilson...he fits Coach's offense very well. Another thought is WRT Lance...he certainly didn't hurt himself at his Pro Day...in fact, he blew it up. His experience level could be a red flag for our braintrust...if so, I get it. I think if the Pats offer a 2nd or even 3rd rd pick for JG, the Niners take it. Their 3rd rd pick is much better than the end-of-the-rounder they gave up to Miami. All of this is pure conjecture, but at a minimum this trade executes what most of us have thought...they're putting their chips into the center of the table for a QB not named Jimmy G.

Word is that Kyle is ok with any of the top 3 QB's. Steve Young made that historic 50+ yard run in '88 to seal a playoff spot and a super bowl championship. The two back to back super bowl years ('88 and '89) Steve Young started 3 games when Montana (I guess) was injured. If a Rookie QB deal is 3 years at bargain prices (defer to AB81 on this), conceivably you can keep a rookie behind Jimmy for three years and trade Jimmy in the 4th - to have that QB depth. Patriots with Tom and Jimmy won two super bowls, and maybe one reason is tremendous QB depth.

Unless you know something. That's still a possibility, but you would think even if Shanny and Selah are "buddies", he's not going to say s**t in a high stakes draft like this.

Yea. When something doesnt make sense, its usually because theres a black swan you havent considered.

Man, all this Montana to Young talk is f**king ridiculous. REMIND YOURSELVES OF THIS FACT:

JOE FRIGGIN' BROCEPHUS MONTANA NEVER LOST A SUPER BOWL AND WON FOUR OF THEM BEFORE INJURY AND TIME FORCED HIM TO GIVE UP THE REIGNS.

Jimmy G, has lost a Super Bowl, and has yet to win one, let alone, FOUR OF DEM MOTHERf**kERS. Please stop with the Montana and Young talk, eh? I know the hipsters might like it, but be a better fan and tell them to shut the f**k up. Winning is winning. Joe won, Steve won, Jimmy, as much as I like him, has not. Hence, why in the commercial, he carried the bags.

LOL.

That obviously wasn't implying Garoppolo was Montana and the rookie is Young. Just how one effects the other and in turn, how Kyle saw that play out first hand. You know who else did that? Kansas City and Green Bay and both Alex and Rodgers had career years. And eventually Mahomes still took over and Love probably will next year too. Perhaps our rookie as well next year.

But that formula works!

Because NY is locked on Wilson at #2.

Sure seems that way.
You don't trade to #3 for Mac Jones. The 49ers want an athletic QB.

Exactly.

A lot of you guys are overthinking it, tell y'all selves this. You think Saleh coaching his 1st team and Douglas are going to put their jobs on the line for Darnold? If you guys were coaching your first team would you put your job on the line with Darnold or take your guy?

How do we know he likes any of these guys in the draft more than they like Darnold?

Oh boy!

Yup there goes Wilson likely.
Anyone who ever thought the Jets were taking anything other than a QB I think are delusional. You don't pass on Qbs of this caliber when your QB is bust Darnold.
