You not wanting someone equates to Shanahan improperly grading QBs. No offense bro, I will take his opinion over yours.

The later round picks are fine consolations since Thomas is a bust at his draft spot. The hope was for Thomas to be great, hence the reason for moving up to get him.

They didn't move up to get Thomas. They were going to take him at 2, but moved down one pick with Chicago, got some extra picks and still took the guy they originally were going to take.

The Bears got absolutely fleeced in that trade.

You mean where they traded down a spot, took the guy they were going to take anyways and wound up with two extra 3rds, one of which turned into an All Pro LB? I'd say that trade worked out pretty well for them.

They moved down!!! Cmon man!

Yes, that's what I saw also. And those QB draws up the middle and sprinting 70 yards ... please. My daughter goes to Mater Dei and I think they could put up stiffer competition than the butter Trey Lance has been cutting through at North Dakota State. That's not happening in the NFL. I'm not sold on any of the QBs after Lawrence and Wilson, so I'm questioning this trade. It's hard to be patient, but it seems like the Niners brass are trying to force it a little here by giving up so much for the #3. My best guess is that they want to secure a QB more talented than Jimmy to a rookie deal that will allow them in 2022 to dump Jimmy's contract and get to work on extending Bosa, Warner, Deebo, so the net outcome is a win for the team. But as far as the #3 QB being a lock, who the hell knows. They'll probably just settle for multi-dimensional enough, paired with Shanahan's scheming, to keep other teams off balance and having to defend too many options.
We just traded three 1sts and a 3rd to take the 3rd ranked QB in the class. Better be right about him.

This doesn't mean he is the 3rd best

You don't give up three first-rounders to sit a player on the bench an entire season. Yes, You might not want to rush him out in week 1, but there is no way you don't start them at all this season.

LOL. KC, Baltimore, Green Bay x2, 49ers, etc.

It's a luxury but it's the right way to get the best out of your current starter, keep his trade value up and allow your rookie time to acclimate to a very complicated NFL system.

Yeah you do. You want to win the SB.

No downside to keeping Garoppolo.

They can keep Jimmy. Just no way the Rookie doesn't start at some point in the season. If they had that kind of confidence in Jimmy they wouldn't have made this trade.

What if we are all wrong? What if it is a CB or OL? and thats why they told Garoppolo he is still in the plans??

Still have all their picks this yr and the 3rd they have multiple 3rds next yr.

this is pocket change compared to past trades imo. Back to back late 1sts meh whatever. they will recoup some of that with Jimmy getting moved as well.
