Don't say Mac Jones' name in here 😑

they can extend Warner either way. Jimmy plays well you can move him for more than what he's worth right now.

I like to keep you guessing though. Hehe.

I can't handle it right now, and I'm not sure you're kidding about a LT at 3 lol

2 firsts but whose counting?

No. It is 3 first even if you're swapping firsts it still counts as a first

Basic math. If you give up 3 and gain 1 the net is 2.

why do you have to explain this? god damn our education system sucks
He's right.

3 firsts plus a 3rd for a rookie qb. Why is that not right? Let's say miami drafted trey lance at #3. The 49ers give up #12 2021, 2022 1st and 2023 1st and 2021 for trey lance. That's three firsts and a third for trey lance. Why is that hard to understand.

Lol. The extra wording isn't going to make you right. It's 2 firsts homie
Just a generic observation, but sometimes the best draft picks are just taking advantage of great talents available that other teams for whatever reason passed on. E.g, Frank Gore in the 3rd round, Nick Bosa at the #2 pick when AZ went Kyler Murray. This move feels like a reach. How many big, athletic Ohio State QBs are going to wash out at the NFL? And Lance seems eerily like Kaepernick, who was great for about a season and a half before they had the book on him. Mac Jones isn't gifted enough to justify all of the draft capital. Where are they going with this? Zach Wilson looks good, but somebody's going to nab him at 2. Seems like a bold move without a definite plan. Why would the Jets reveal their intentions to the Niners even if Saleh is a good and loyal friend? I think I'm just being too negative today. Don't mind me. Go Niners!

Right. He's probably here until the end of the year. The rookie takes over in 2022, right when the 49ers need his money to starting looking at extending Bosa.

Everyone who reads this board knows I'm not a Jimmy fan, but the smart move is to keep him on the team through 2021. We don't need the cap room this year and it would give the rook time to learn the system and build confidence. Who knows, if the kid is good enough make he takes over mid/late season. This is best case scenario.

The smart move would be to trade Jimmy and a second to New England for the 15 pick. Then trade back. Trade Mcglinchy grab his replacement in the first round. Ship a fifth for Minshew. Then they would have cap space to fill some spots this year and draft capital to fill some of the leftover holes and the team would be in great shape for the future.

If I was Jimmy G, id be demanding a trade. So I don't think it's feasible to expect Jimmy G to hand it the same way as Alex Smith did in KC.

If JG forces the issue, 49ers should trade him. Sign Alex Smith as a vet backup instead.

Why? Jimmy is in the best possible situation to succeed. If Jim plays to his 2017 potential, we win a Super Bowl and he writes his next big contract demands. He won't have it better anywhere else.
  • Why would you do this now? How do you know if your guy is going to be there at 3? Especially if it's not clear cut in the top 5 qbs

Look, I am sure we tried with the Jets and they turned us down, nothing much we could do about it. At this point, I think we can all assume Zach Wilson is gone by #2 even if you think the Jets will trade with someone else, personally I think the Jets will take Wilson. And the 9ers will take Trey Lance at #3 or at worse Justin Fields. That's OK, is not the end of the world.

Or the jets could've said get the #3 pick and then we can talk.
Maybe on draft day we flip JG back to NE for a third or fourth round pick, then flip another pick to Jax for Minshew?

That would be incredible, and our rookie QB needs the stability of a vet.

That would be incredible because it's so unrealistic. Nobody is giving up a 1st for Jimmy. If they would, he should of been traded yesterday...

I said Jimmy and our 2nd. Reading comprehension is a hell of a drug!!

If I am Jimmy G, I would want this coming season to be a success, and the perfect spot would be staying in SF with Kyle.

From The Athletic:

BYU quarterback Zach Wilson did not disappoint at his pro day Friday in front of personnel from across the NFL, including the New York Jets, who hold the No. 2 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.

Jets general manager Joe Douglas, head coach Robert Saleh and offensive coordinator Mike LaFleur were all at Friday's workout, and Douglas spoke with Wilson at one point on the field. A scout who was at the pro day told The Athletic's Dane Brugler that the Jets plan to draft Wilson, who impressed with throws on the move in both directions during his workout.

"Great staff, love those guys," Wilson told reporters afterward when asked about the Jets. "Joe Douglas is a great guy. It was good to see him out here. They've got a good thing going."

I really don't want Lance or Jones @3. If we made this trade intending to draft one of those 2 I'm disappointed and think Shanahan has shown yet again an inability to properly grade QB's.

You not wanting someone equates to Shanahan improperly grading QBs. No offense bro, I will take his opinion over yours.

Lol this

Every QB decision Shanahan has made i've hated and EVERY QB decision Shanahan has made has turned out to be meh. Jimmy is just ok and he was talked into Jimmy so.......

Don't get me wrong. Im a HUGE Shanny fan and want his as our coach for decades, but he over values certain traits in certain position groups and it's bitten us in the ass on draft day.
