Meltdown in here is going to be epic when it's Mac Jones and Jimmy next year.

This is why taking Mac Jones makes even less sense.

Mac's biggest advantage over the other prospects is he's the most "pro-ready." But we still have Jimmy. We don't need a pro-ready guy, just someone who can be ready by 2022.

Well, if they don't get a vet and given Jimmy's injury history, the player may get playing or starting time. Just as Walsh played Montana in spot situations before starting him in his third year. He, Mac, is better than Jimmy in the long game according to reports.

DON'T want any part of Fields... I was hoping that if we were giving up this much, it would be the 2nd overall pick... I believe Shanny's in love with 2 to 3 players..

Wilson - Fields - Chase...

or, this could only mean that Saleh and told Shanny that his team will be taking the OT!!

Jamar is going to be a great WR, but unless he is light Megatron and Fritz, big and fast Wr who can threaten deep and in the redzone, can't see trading away 3 picks plus the original.

jones would terrible. he is a jimmy clone

He is better at the deep ball. Also, hopefully not injury prone. He is not as good at improvising on the run like Lance or Fields, but he is made for Kyle's system. In Kyle's system, he is better than Fields.

I dont think that is necessarily true. Firlds has the anticipation, arm strength and accuracy to be amazing in Kyle's offense. His mobility is just the icing on top that makes him a great prospect. Mac Jones plated with the best WRs and O line in college ball. Jones seems more of a product of Saben/Alabama rather than him being a great QB

I'm cool with whoever Shanahan picks. Its his job on the line, not mine. Can't get more motivated then that.

Thank you for stating the obvious. Niners fans have been waiting since the late 90's for the organization to make this bold of a move for a franchise QB. Now people are worrying that they might blow the pick. Lynch and Shanahan have put their own futures on the line by making this move. Just like you, in them we trust. I'll be happy with whomever they pick, as long as it is a QB.

I don't think Kyle alone picked a QB ...or 3 of them. I think JL had every much to say about the pick as Kyle....and i hope Peters. Kyle's track record pickin QBs to come here....has not been stellar. Hoyer, CJ, Mullie, and the strong desire to bring Cuzins here. Nope, i think all 3 guys okayed the #3 slot for the top 4, maybe 5 QBs, and hoped that one of the top 2 would fall...probably one of the top 3.

I trust JL to make a thotful decision. Kyle scares me with guys he jumps up for...Williams, Pettis, CJ, Jet (not draft) plus the 4 mentioned above. It seems he picks QBs by his heart, not his head. So when this happened, i hope and pray it was 3-0 including Peters.

Conclusion-because Haskins had a great college year, but has sucked as a pro. Fields has had a great year in 2019 then came back down to earth in 2020. What you need to consider is that they both came from the same school and system. Then look at the games. The scouts all say the same thing, slow at processing and is not decisive. You familiar with what coaches often tell QBs coming in from college who are not decisive-throw the damn ball, you are not going to get a bigger window than that.

You can't just look at combine numbers/pro days and stats. You have to talk to the player and his coaches (providing you can get the true 411 on the player).

Agree....i just can't imagine a kid who processes slowly to be the pick we gave up two firsts and a third for. That just doen't compute. How many times have we heard Kyle talk about so and so. not being able to process fast enough? Just can't believe kyle would sacrifice so much draft capital for a kid who is slow in processing.

Sure he loves CJ, but he just doesn't process fast. Unfortunately Mullie was about the same way. Ugh...I hope JL kept him away from doing that.

The Saleh link is of interest tho. I bet out of loyalty to kyle he would give him a heads up if he took an OL or ER. Man that would really shake things out for kyle and take a lot of guesswork out of it.

Those same receivers Mac Jones set college records with didn't have those kind of numbers with last years #5 overall pick in the draft. Fields plays at Ohio State another super college team and had first round talent all over that roster and he looked awful against that same Bama for the Championship. Of the QB's available to us Fields might be the worst option right before Wilson. He was also avg in his bowl game vs Clemson in 2019.

Mr Clean pocket is going to wilt with McG getting him hit on nearly every pass attempt. Throws a nice ball wilted when he actually had pressure on him in college.

If he can process better both pre and post snap, if he gets rid of the ball quicker, if he makes better decisions, if he proves more accurate, if he isn't afraid to take more shots down the field....

With further development by Kyle & Co, he can be all the things we had hoped Jimmy would and could be. That doesn't sound terrible to me.

I agree and I love Fields, but my brain says we are taking Jones lol.
What makes you think Zach Wilson won't be #1?

+1

Meyer was reportedly all over "the best college QB ever" Lawrence during his pro day. Was supposedly gushing over him verbally and took the Jags gig to have control of that pick.
