With the trade up, it's obvious we're going QB, who do you NOT want at 3?

Meyer was reportedly all over "the best college QB ever" Lawrence during his pro day. Was supposedly gushing over him verbally and took the Jags gig to have control of that pick.
Add the fact you really think a guy like Meyer takes the Jags job when he can get any college job except Bama without the 1st overall and Lawrence coming out?

Kyle's track record pickin QBs to come here....has not been stellar. Hoyer, CJ, Mullie, and the strong desire to bring Cuzins here. Nope, i think all 3 guys okayed the #3 slot for the top 4, maybe 5 QBs, and hoped that one of the top 2 would fall...probably one of the top 3.
I trust JL to make a thotful decision. Kyle scares me with guys he jumps up for...Williams, Pettis, CJ, Jet (not draft) plus the 4 mentioned above. It seems he picks QBs by his heart, not his head. So when this happened, i hope and pray it was 3-0 including Peters.
You´re absolutely right on this one.
Already in this offseason, we had John Lynch saying he made a mistake by not taking Mahomes. I guess Kyle doesn´t care about QBs in 2017 because of the Cousins thing.
It´s really difficult for me to say who is the best choice between Fields, Jones or Lance but I hope Kyle will do his choice not based on his bias. Just because Trey Lance or Justin Fields are less pro ready on paper than Mac Jones doesn´t mean that they can´t be better in Kyle´s offense long term. And just because Mac Jones doesn´t have the same athletiscm doesn´t mean he couldn´t play in a bootleg heavy offense like Lance or Fields.
When you look at Kyle´s past, it´s clear he would take someone like Mac Jones. But do you give two first round picks in 2022 and 2023 for Mac Jones? Did you really need to leapfrog the Falcons at 3rd, 5 weeks before the draft just for Mac Jones?
Maybe Kyle is all about it, I don´t know but Lynch and Peters? This type of trade should be for a big time upside player right?
At the end of the day, it´s a massive, massive decision and Kyle shouldn´t be alone in this choice because that´s not only his job on the line but also Lynch´s one.

The more you look at it, it's either Wilson or Jones, imo.

But both of those guys can start in week 1 and Lynch called Jimmy up immediately after the trade and told him he is still in their plans. That tells me they don't believe Wilson be available and that their pick will need a year of seasoning. That screams Trey Lance and to a lesser degree, Justin Fields.

If this team doesn't draft Kellen Mond then that will be it for this regime

Wilson - Fields - Chase...
or, this could only mean that Saleh and told Shanny that his team will be taking the OT!!
No way we traded up for Chase. It will be Wilson, Fields, or Lance. My opinion / hope is Justin Fields 100%
if we end up drafting a QB, there'll be no more excuse for the SON OF MIKE !!!

Main issue is.....does Lynch and Peters have the guts to argue with Kyle Shanahan (and possibly Mike Shanahan) on prospects, and in this case, Quarterbacks. Or are they simply yes man?
Even if their jobs are on the line, they still might just follow what Kyle says since hes the alpha in the organization.

If he can process better both pre and post snap, if he gets rid of the ball quicker, if he makes better decisions, if he proves more accurate, if he isn't afraid to take more shots down the field....
With further development by Kyle & Co, he can be all the things we had hoped Jimmy would and could be. That doesn't sound terrible to me.
I agree. you make some good points.

ok,, so we do what evil says,. now we have to coach him to process better. get rid of the ball quicker. make better decisions. be more accurate and oh by the way. the man can not move around which is something kyle loves in a qb. so now we have to help him move and hope he can run bootlegs.. sounds like a project to me.. you do not give up what we gave up for a project qb in my opinion

I vote Jones, not because I hate him, but that is a tremendous amount of overpay. You could of had him at 10.
