With the trade up, it's obvious we're going QB, who do you NOT want at 3?

I'll trust Kyle whatever the pick is and cheer for him. But I don't want Fields.

Trading multiple future 1st round picks for ANYONE is way too big a gamble.
I sincerely hope that Shanahan/Lynch either have the guy they want fall to them.... or hope that somebody else offers more draft capital for #3 on draft day than what they already gave up.
This looks like one or more of desperation, boneheadedness, FOMO.
3 first round picks for the second or third best QB in his class? The fact that there is so much uncertainty about who we traded up for exactly tells you a lot.
This trade stinks. The risk in this is way too high.

BUT we didn't give up 3 first round picks. Plus we kept our 2nd this year. Chances are the two firsts we gave are low first rounders and the 3rd we gave is the comp pick which is end of the 3rd next year.
Next two years we still have our 2nd and 3rd rounders.
This isn't a bad trade in my opinion

Escapablilty and extend plays. Kyle wants that too. He doesn't have that right now out of Jimmy, Mullins, or Beathard last year. Along that line, Trey Lance is the answer. He has all the physical tools for that and more.

I think it is Fields. He is a very natural thrower and has the mobility.

I don't, he has a turrible record drafting QBs and other players

This is such an interesting take for me. Fields played on a pro like team. Balled in his bowl game. Played against elite players. Yet the guy that played against lesser players, is the guy people want. I'm not knocking Lance, just interesting that people feel this way about Fields.
Puzzled by this too. I watch a ton of NDSU. Lance for the level of competition played on a much more stacked team than anyone else and by far has thrown the fewest passes. I wouldn't put him ahead of Fields who is significantly more accomplished but just as athletically gifted.
Lance might have the biggest upside but also has the strongest odds of doing a complete face flop in the NFL.
Pretty much the way I feel. QBs taken in the 1st round flame out so often that I think it's worth it to take a chance on a guy like Lance. He may not make it but he seems to have the biggest upside. If he's able to adapt to the pro game he could be a great QB. Fields could also fit that category. Jones is okay but unspectacular. Wilson played very mediocre competition last year except in one game when he struggled. I'm really unsure of any of these guys since none of them have a lot of starts but sometimes you just need to close your eyes and swing for the fences.

Call me crazy but...
I'd package Jimmy, the number 3 pick AND either Bosa or Warner to Jacksonville for Trevor Lawrence....
Jacksonville would get a starting QB, a defensive stud and they could still draft a QB at 3 to sit behind Jimmy for a couple of years. Trevor Lawrence is as sure a deal as ever in this game. Plus, dealing one of our D studs frees up cap space, because lets be honest, it's gonna be REAL tough to keep them both. We are probably gonna lose one anyways so let's get a generational QB in return. Score a crap ton of points and it lessens the loss of an elite pass rusher.

You're not crazy. I don't think Jacksonville would do that but it's not a crazy proposal.

I won't be mad if we take Fields but he's last on my list. OSU qb's just have it easy. You really have to be sure his work ethic is better than everyone else at that school. But I'm not ruling him out or saying it's anything against him.
