Uhmm, the 49ers got Fred Warner as a direct result of that trade.

Something can still materialize with the Jets. We're so close to #2 - a 2nd or 3rd round pick may get it done.

We would be dumb to trade up again.

Why, don't you want Wilson better than the other three?

Dont you think we called the Jets before we called Miami? They obviously said "no, were taking someone there."

lol yeah, we got the Foster pick from Seattle.

But why? I'm trying to understand why anyone believe Zach Wilson is worth the extra day 2 pick and/or key defender. A guy that was on no one's radar 7 months ago is now worth weakening the teams defense and giving up the limited draft capital we have left?

Also more injury prone, with a team that is already dealing with an injury prone quarterback.

Yep. They got two third rounders from that trade. One of them was traded to the Saints for a 2nd rounder in 2018 which turned into Dante Pettis. The other was a 2018 third rounder which was used to draft Fred Warner.

What guarantee is there that Wilson will be a better NFL quarterback? I like Wilson, but I also don't see some huge gap between him and Fields. There's a lot of reasons why a team might prefer Fields to Wilson

I wouldn't complain if we ended up with my second choice Fields. I just think Wilson is a tick better than him.
It was already stupid to trade up to 2. Let's not be even dumber and go for 2. Wilson fields lance all have equal chance to suck.

I'd bet 3/4 of those qbs if not all of them suck more than our current quarterback. Pick one hope to god we don't blow it. On the record I want pitts.

I don't think a tick better is worth the cost that it would require to move up. Any of these QBs will likely thrive under Shanahan. Fields's increased durability is a huge plus for me as well.
If getting to number two assures us of NOT drafting Jones, since we now can get Wilson, sign me up!

but the Niners may only think Jones and Wilson are worth drafting. They may not be interested in Fields or Lance. If that is the case, I can see why they might want to move up since Wilson is much more mobile and has a higher upside than Jones.
Don't see it happening. Not enough separation between #2 and #3, given what they'd want.

e.g.,...Jimmy Johnson value chart-wise,...that's a 400 differential between 2nd and 3rd,...which equates to a mid 2nd rounder.

We've given up a boatload already just to be in the mix for 3 comparable talents that will be there from 2nd-4th.

If they land a franchise QB, it was worth every bit. In fact, if the QB we take ends up being a top tier guy, the price we paid was a steal.

Taking Pitts at 3 when we just paid Kittle, and have high draft picks in Deebo and Aiyuk on rookie deals, is idiotic.

49ers would never have traded up to three if they didn't have >= 3 guys they felt could play QB. A trade up to number two is not going to happen, nor should it, as it would show hope / desperation in the initial move to three (and I pray those things played no part in said decision).

This. I think Zach is getting a ton of hype as an Aaron Rodgers type. Maybe but there's a long way between here and there. I think Shannahan wants Lance who to me at least is more of a sure thing than Wilson.

JTO did a breakdown on Wilson that I've a shared a few times here. A lot of jump balls, accuracy sporadic, some missed reads. Just a lot of question marks for a smaller prospect with some injury concerns.
