One of them maybe, definitely not both.

Fields. Reporters want us to believe we tried to trade for Watson. Obviously that idea is kaput. So instead we go for Mac Jones?
Same reporters also believe we tried to trade number 12 for Darnold. The Jets turn that down and instead take a 2nd, 4th, and 6th. Okay...

I wouldn't be so mad if they did give up so much to draft any of these unproven rookie QBs.. It doesn't matter who they draft.. they paid a ridiculous amount for the right.

Fields. He's the one to make this offense serve up 40 burgers every Sunday, and Kyle knows that.

Not my wish but don't entirely hate it, either. It's whatever. IDGAF who we draft. To quote Al Davis: "Just win, baby."

I'm gonna go Jones. That's who I'd bet on the pick being if I had to wager a lot of money on it. I think the only reason that pick isn't written in stone like the first two are is because of the fan outrage and the media backlash. Like people just don't quite believe it. I think there's just as much evidence that says we're taking Jones as there is that jets are taking Wilson. I just think the perception is that Wilson is worth the second pick while Jones might not be worth the third. I think ultimately that perception will be proven false on draft day and then again when the games start.

Dont really care tbh. All 3 have things I like and all 3 have some semi-serious question marks. Excited no matter who.
And to answer the question...
Mac

Who I want is Lance or Fields. Who they will take is Jones. I don't think all the media is in on a whole smokescreen.

Here's my tin foil hat theory on the matter.
- It's been Fields or Wilson this whole time. That's why they did the trade up. Fields has 2 years of a significant sample size, and the 49ers have direct connections with their HC (former 49ers assistant) and QB (Shanahan at QB collective).
- 49ers love the talk about their interest in Lance and Jones. The higher they go, the more QB needy teams picking later in the draft will seriously need to consider Garoppolo as their solution for 2021.
- I do think they are telling the truth that they see 5 starters out of the top 5 prospects at the position. If your option A had a Watson event, you'd need to be comfortable with your option B. However, there's a clear favorite in this group. And my money is on Fields.
---
Even if it's not Fields, I do think Lance and Jones can perform well under Shanahan. Lance is raw, but immensely talented. If he gets a year on the bench, I genuinely believe he can be a strong starter in the league.
For Jones specifically, he's got deadly accuracy and a good enough deep ball. That combination would have won us the super bowl. While he may not be an elite QB in the Allen/Mahomes style, we just need incremental improved back from Garoppolo's peak to make us a strong contender. I wouldn't like the pick personally, but I get the rationale.

Expecting them to draft the QB who is actually talented in Justin Fields. Hoping Jones goes to an horrible situation and busts.
Next best thing: Jets' GM has a vision: Picks Jones.
