he already sees the field better than Kap did. That is actually pretty obvious if you watch the film.
Lance should start because he needs to develop, he's the future not Jimmy. This isn't a SB roster…and Jimmy isn't a great QB.
Ahh ... the
adjusted completion percentage. Are you also adjusting for when Brandon Aiyuk makes a contorted, one-handed circus catch on a hook route? Or are you just adjusting for the 100 MPH slant routes that bounce off of the receiver's chest plate?
With regard to Steve Young ... I know you are a serious scholar of the game and I am a mere ignoramus, but there was a notable uptick in Steve Young's completion percentage when he came to Bill Walsh's west coast offense. QBs running this system, particularly the Niners, always had higher completion percentages than the rest of the league. Tampa, to my recollection was a dumpster fire that didn't run the WCO. Also, as I'm sure you've uncovered in your original research is that the league was significantly less QB friendly in 1985. Only Joe Montana and Ken O'Brien of your Jets squad had completion percentages above 60%. Much different game today. The league leading passer and MVP, Dan Marino, came in at 59.3. I've done an adjustment ... two of those three hovering around the 60% became first ballot Hall of Famers.
At 5 games in we have no idea what's going to happen. This is a roster that can get to the dance, and it's not always the best team that makes it to the Super Bowl. There is a lot of luck and injuries that play a part. Way too early to write this off as a developmental year.
