Another great pick!! As always great job.
Assuming no trade up action, There is / was a whole Lot of picks going off the board between our 48 overall untill we got to select again at 102 overall ( 54 selections), so they got the starting guard they wanted while they could....seems like a good move to me

Seems like a bit of a reach.
He was projected to go in rd3
Prospect Rank: #80/300
Position Rank: #9 IOL.

But the 49ers obviously liked him better than that, hope they were right.
Might have been better to trade back to pick him a bit later

They did
I don't understand this pick at all. Numerous reports say that Banks IS NOT well suited for zone blocking schemes. Guess what we run? Zone Blocking. We could have drafted Creed Humphrey, who was considered the best zone blocker, or Quinn Meinerz, who plays both guard and center. We still need a back-up center!

And once again, the Niners are ignoring the CB position. Most of the good corners in this draft are now gone, and next year, most of our corners on our team are likely gone. And the draft cupboard is rather bare next year with no No. 1 or No. 3 picks, thanks to spending 4 draft picks on one player (Lance). Short sighted!

I can't wait for camp...want to see Kinlaw bully this dude in the beginning and by preseason, I want to see Banks bully him back.

You going to the BBQ tomorrow?
Was going to play LT next year if he returned, looks like our starting guard and then swing tackle if needed. Wouldnt mind grabbing Meinertz as well, then we have quality insurance for Center, Guard and Tackle so the line doesnt fall apart after an injury or two.

If they spent a 2nd rounder on this dude they must think he can play center as well... Shanny doesn't like to waste draft pics on IOL

I think this is a John Lynch pick. Like "Kyle, we know you don't value Guards early in the draft, but you'll thank me for having this guy penciled in at RG for the next 10 years"

My thots exactly

Who considered Humphrey the best zone blocker?
CanT wait for the first time we are on the 4 yd line , 3rd down, and see Kyle use power. That ought to be a significant point in his career....as in , "Jeez, power really works when you are in close.".. The light bulb will go on.

For you non-Banks fans, look up Lenz's summary and highlites reels. The kid does have agile feet, and was rated higher in run blocking than pass Pro. BUT ...he gave up only two sacks this past yr. Not bad, not bad at all.

as for those who wanted a back up Corner, sorry, OL was an immediate need. PHX mentioned this earlier on.

Bummed we missed Asante Samuel Jr. by one spot, but hopefully this guy is the goods.

Shanny/Lynch loves old and often injured DBs...no need for a young (maybe stud) guys to develop
I love the pick!
