I think Kyle is going to expand on the running game with a QB capable of being a run threat and the additions of Banks and Sermon. NFL box defenders are in deep s**t coming up against this 49er run game. We may not see it all in 2021, but when Lance takes over, there's going to be too much for run defenses to handle. The speed and ability to create misdirection is about to be taken to another level.

Yes!!! Yes!!! And hell Yesss!!!!

It had occurred to me back in late 2018 that the passing game in the NFL gotten stale. There's not any passing concepts that haven't been done or reused through the years. One of the reasons the NFL tweaked the rules to give the offense the advantage.

The run game has more ceiling. Kyle was trying to put his run game together more than the passing game. Until recently he hasn't put a major emphasis on drafting receivers. And when he did, he goes for physical RAC guys.

It's culminating in the draft with a qb that has major arm strength, mobility, and run threat.

Agreed. "It's a passing league". It's actually a playaction passing league. There were a couple things missing from the 49er run game in 2019/2020, QB keeper concepts and a true power element. The 49ers ran gap/power runs but it was more of a 'change up' than a 'go-to'. Kyle could be working towards adding weapons that will allow him to call power plays and QB zone reads (inside zone) with equal effectiveness as outside zone.

When it comes to guys that can get YAC, what's the one thing that has suffered with the softer practices (CBA rules)? Tackling. Enter Deebo/Kittle/Aiyuk.

Excellent discussion. I believe it was 2019 when Kyle came out of the think-tank and just beefed up a varied run game...more IZ, gap, power, etc. I wish I had the tweet but I think it was Brandon Thorn who listed all the different kinds of run plays Kyle called in one game and it was a grocery long list.

I think he's going to love getting back to that (balance).

As teams draft smaller DB's and LB's to counter the passing attacks around the league, it leaves them vulnerable to a running attack. It's like every team in the league is going big on the passing game. A running attack like the one Kyle puts out there will be Kryptonite for their defenses.

The ol' HaRoman philosophy. Ironic.

He still has Tomlinson but maybe he'll feel more comfortable sliding to his right now...step up Mike McGlinchey!

Alex Mac and Banks is a pretty upgrade to start. Really hope this inspires McGirly to bring his A game. My theory is Staley's weight loss has influenced Mikes off-season diet and it's not a good thing.

If Banks is put on the right side, hopefully that gives McGlinchey more confidence and better focus on his assignments.

Haha. You may be right!

Agreed, Banks is going to learn a lot next to Mack too.
Loved this post by NBC sports

49ers selected Notre Dame G Aaron Banks with the No. 48 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.

Banks (6'5/335) was a three-year starter in South Bend who endeared himself to coaches, teammates, and scouts with surly play and a high football IQ. A technician in pass pro, Banks lets his length and width work for him, sitting back into his hips and letting his man come to him. He has dynamite in his hands, blasting a charge into opponents and resetting in one fluid motion. Because of his length and strength, Banks is able to turn power rushers into kittens. A limited athlete with average foot speed, Banks isn't as skilled on the move, making a better fit for a gap/power scheme. As a rangy, powerful guard who arrives in the NFL with polishes technique and know-how after years of starting at a blueblood, his profile evokes a beefier, slower David DeCastro arriving from Stanford. Banks will join a 49ers offensive line graded by PFF as the NFL's second best run blocking unit in 2020.

Opposite for me. Not worried about the guard. He should be fine. Worst case scenario he's a rotational backup guy.

Excellent breakdown of Banks at the Senior Bowl.

Anybody with doubts about Aaron Banks....watch Bryan Driscoll (on Irish Breakdown. (Above), and you will have any doubts dispelled. He has all the necessary
"must haves":

BIG
Agile
Quick feet
Great attitude
Strong , in addition to being big. Huge head, shoulders, body and he can move.
Gets to 2nd level QUICK.
Has real swing to his hips so can turn on a dime and wipe out his man
PLays better with a team than on 1 on 1s.
Easily coachable
NO SACKS GIVEN UP IN 2020, yet somehow is better in run blocking than pass pro. Figure that one out and we got a winner.

Can improve on:
Hands too wide so DL can get their hands on his chest.
Occasionally takes wrong angles.
Occasionally stops his feet , probably due to inexperience of where to go.

Note the improvements are all teachable. The "Must Haves" make him a terrific pick .

This is the guy to complete that OL. Imagine : Big Trent. Laken. Mack. Banks. McG.
and as noted earlier, McG and Banks played together and McG can help his buddy learn the more sophisticated stuff. Talentwise...A+

Now if McG just comes in at 305 or more, we will have one stellar OL...plus the necessary backup/rotational guys like Brun, maybe mcKivitz, Everyone wanting an OL has to have cause for celebration....FINALLY!

Lastly, a guy this big 330 lbs needs to protect his knees...they carry a lot of weight. Banks wisely wears the protective hinged knee braces on both knees, which i believe is something every single OL should be doing. A++

Seahawks do that, they drafted the fast WR to throw over the top after pounding it

Except that there is an actual functional passing system to pair with it.

SUMMARY:A three-year starter at Notre Dame, Banks was a mainstay at left guard in offensive coordinator Tommy Rees' scheme, also seeing time at left tackle and right guard. He entered the starting lineup midway through his freshman season and started 31 straight games, finishing his South Bend career as an All-American. Banks displays the body girth, brute strength and physical attitude to take up space and anchor, making him a hard guy to move. He isn't the most dynamic athlete among the offensive line prospects, but he isn't a slug and has somemobility to his game. Overall, Banks needs to mature his hand placement and body posture to match up with NFL defenders, but he has the massive size and brawling strength to be a square-dominating blocker and potential starter

Thanks for the summary. I hate paywall sites.

The athletic is actually worth it and they do pretty good deals Great content

No man, that's actually an 80" TV. The family just makes it look small.
