With Mack and Big Banks in the middle Jimmy might actually be able to step into his throws. Every time he threw off his back foot it looked like a wounded duck and got picked.

This is a really good point. The middle of that o line is going to be a revamped group. Jimmy is a really effective QB with good pass pro. Sprinkle in some gadget packages with Lance, and a stable of good RBs, this offense is going to be well balanced and fun to watch.

Unless Garop is finished, a good offensive line easily makes the offense a top 3 - 5 unit in terms of production with Kyle's play-calling.

If you thought they're going to make Garpo better, wait till you see how better the OL makes the defense.

Both of you are right on. We were top 3 when jimmy G was in Without Aiyuk Mack Banks Trent Williams so it's about to get very exciteeeeee

Wonder if Banks goes to LG, and Tomlinson to RG? Our left side and middle would be awesome at pass pro, and our right would be our weakness in that area, but atlest we could scheme around the right side being turnstiles, instead of our LG, and RT being turnstiles.

Probably not but I like your line of thinking. That said, having Tomlinson stuck between two excellent pass protectors and another one next to McGlinchey is a solid plan. Obviously if we max protect, it'll be to that right side to help McGlinchey.

But personally, I'd love to have Banks beat out Tomlinson at LG and Moore slide into RG. Make it a real competition. Tomlinson is a piss poor pass protector but he's a really good run blocker and he'll get paid accordingly next year.

Think and plan ahead...then you'd have 4 of the 5 OL really good in pass protection for Lance.

Yeah, doesn't the offense score like 29 points a game when JG is healthy and that's with crappy pass protection. Give him average NFL time and he could have a fantastic year and regain his confidence and poise.

Let's keep an eye on the PP and QB hits and TTT.

Nah he's not a piss poor PP. He's not Quinten nelson but he's one of the better overall LG in the league

Now that we got RG solidified with Banks, let's extend Tomlinson for a couple more years to free up some space while still keeping the line together.

I expect Tomlinson to get an extension at some point...unless if he's looking for stupid money (which I doubt).

yeah he sticks I think...we have two shiny new rookies on low cost deals, I could see Moore as primary interior back up and Brunksill focusing on Tackle as primary swing going forward. Guys like Skule, Compton, Coleman and McKivitz will be competing for depth roster spots and practice squad jobs.
Cohn loves the pick. Should make people here hate the pick.

Dude is nearly dead last every single year in PP at the G position. Per PFF of course . That's remarkable given how he's now played next to two HOF LT's who excelled in PP. Has he not learned a thing?

That and putting Jimmy on I.R. x2 in one season too. Not his best year. But he is very consistent and stays healthy. I could see him staying if it's a modest contract but would love him to finally have some real competition esp. in PP.

All Notre Dame right side of our line. Hopefully McGlinchey improves this year.
Road Grader with legs. I like the pick.

I would like to see if there is a difference with a real center who is there all season before we throw the baby out with the bath water. Same issue I have with Glnch, yeah he has been bad, but so have the protection calls and the person next to him. The talent level is there to make a return to form.
I don't know how the O line can't be better. We upgraded center and guard which were both weaknesses last year. If they can stay healthy, that alone will make them better. We're also going to have a training camp and 3 pre season games. Last year we didn't get that and remember how even Trent Williams had some issues early on. The O line needs to play as a unit and that can't happen without reps. It should definitely help Jimmy stay healthy and hopefully make it through the entire season.

Yep. When Richburg went down, four other people instantly became much less effective.

With Banks (and probably Moore) and Tomlinson we look to have some good G talent so Brunskill can focus on his C skills. Even if Moore looks really good, I like that we have all four of these guys to help prevent the chaos that has happened when just about anyone on the line goes down.
