Way too inconsistent and he got beat so much in camp that it's too much of a risk to have him on the field. Bottom line he's not good yet. He is just like Witherspoon
Yep, we had to tailor the defense around protecting him. You saw what happens and what kind of defensive scheme we can play when we've got 2 good CB's on the field (through the first 4-5 games of this year). Now, unfortunately, we're going to have to go back to protecting our other CB unless verrett miraculously recovers and can perform.
Depends on what you meant protecting. In a cover 3 the outside corner is basically on an island. Like last season his int against the Rams. Ambry was on an island covering Odell Beckham.
We definitely didn't play as much man defense as Demarco Ryan preferred last season. There was so much PI early in the season, including Eman. So later in the season we played less man coverage and we saw a significantly fewer PI and coverage breakdown.
We haven't been shy away from man coverage this season with Mooney and Eman. I do envisioned us playing less man coverage going forward unless Mooney and a healthy Jason Verrett are playing outside corners. I don't think Demaco will be too comfortable playing lots of man with either Lenoir, Womack, or Ambry playing outside corner.
