Thomas was better than Oliver. If you keep the top six, Oliver wouldn't be on the list after yesterday. We'll see how the next few weeks go.

Come on OTC, they play different positions. The slot is waaaaaay harder to play than outside.

Yes, that's why I'm saying we'll have to see how things go from here. There are several others getting looks in the slot that can also play outside. Granted Thomas isn't one of those, but I could see him making it as outside depth while Womack or Jamison take over the slot if Oliver doesn't bounce back.

Have you heard reports of others competing in the slot? Didn't we move Womack outside too? Jamison might be decent competition in the slot. Everybody else seems to be competing outside ATM.

I think AJ Parker is a dark horse candidate to take the slot CB position away from Oliver. He was signed to a futures contract last year and it sounds like the 49ers really like him. D'shawn Jamison is looking more and more like a lock for the roster but the questions is where doe she play as a DB, outside or inside.

I know we paid Oliver 3M guaranteed but he looked too big and too slow to play slot.

Thanks fellas!

Was a UDFA with Detroit in 2021 and made their team. There's some stuff to work with. Not amazing, but, some potential.
I remember the end of this rookie season and we all thought he was a starter for sure. Then last year happened and he fell off the face of the earth. Now from what we've seen he's back.
I need to see a lot more to be comfortable with seeing him getting time on the outside

Me too. People were impressed with him bc he had an int vs the rams in week 17 to help send us to the playoffs but fail to realize he gave up 2 TDs in the NFCCG and so many other TDs and big plays. Way too much bad than good but I hope he continues on his trajectory.

Way too risky to start him, especially in a crucial game.

He was a rookie then. It is a bit harsh to say it is too risky to start him early in the season because he didn't play well in his rookie season.

It may seem harsh but he's still giving up huge plays in Training camp daily. I'm hope he doesn't see the field in the playoffs bc it is too risky unless he improves astronomically during the course of the year

he had good coverage skills he always got outmuscled it seemed. He may have added some bulk maybe or got more confidence and is more physical now
Really interested to see what they do at CB. Thomas got beat I think on a double move on that last play but he has played well...I sort of like the idea of Thomas/C Ward outside and Lenoir inside.

Its not harsh at all. The guy has been bad and was passed up by Womack and Lenior
I guess they're admitting Oliver ain't it.
Is this guy good now?

Thomas, Womack, and Jamison are all outplaying Oliver and that's all that matters. I don't know if he's good, but hopefully he continues to keep playing this well. Lenoir moving inside is big time if someone else can prove that they can lock up the outside when he mans the slot.

We still have Luter also. I don't see Kyle cutting him, He was drafted this year and showed out in OTA's but then got hurt early training camp.

This, Wilks likes those longer press CB's.

The question is Oliver. He was one of the best SCB's last year. It wouldn't surprise me if Wilks' uses both Lenoir and Oliver for specific matchups.

Ambry still concerns me when the ball is in the air and mental mistakes (like last game).

RCB: Charvarius Ward; Samuel Womack III
SCB: Deommodore Lenoir; Isaiah Oliver
LCB: Ambry Thomas; D'Shawn Jamison

LCB: Darell Luter Jr. (IR)
