Wondering same thing.
We have less salary cap than we did with Eddie D. I don't think the 49ers have one.
This is basically replacing Mooney Ward with some inflation tossed in
Ward was 3 years 40.5 million (13.5 per year)

Agree - this is a great move from a talent, long term view, and cap perspectives. Great starting CBs going forward.
I like Ward a lot - he did get a nice deal from us. But tough to keep 3 high quality CBs on the roster.

This is really strong cap management.

The 49ers are just good about planning out their contracts and knowing what each players cap hit will be each year.
We ended up having to let Arik Armstead go last year though, so it's clear that they can't re-sign everyone.
However, with Purdy's extension looming, I expect the following:
--- Aaron Banks will probably get a bigger contract elsewhere that we can't match (similar to McGlinchey or Tomlinson)
--- Mooney Ward moves on. He originally signed a three-year detail that will have him back on the free agent market at age 30, good timing for one last payday.
--- Greenlaw and Hufanga... they should've commanded huge deals, but it depends on what their market is after both have had injury issues in 2023, 2024.

Makes a ton of sense re-signing Lenoir now. With the way he's playing, if he continues this play, he'll be way too expensive to sign in the off-season.

Probably true on a lot of those ones.

Agreed 👍🏾. Ward has done a great job for us, but have to save some $$$ somewhere

I do like the way that they got this done early & wish we would do this with more guys so we are not overpaying by waiting until the last minute. Great job D-MO & the front office on this move

Hufanga is probably on the way out. They have a cost controlled replacement.
