but imo, we were most likely never resigning him. He's been open about wanting another big pay day (which I think he deserves). But I was hoping.

i still think it's possible to resign ward too, depending on deals structures. We need a third corner and it would be nice if green & Ward remained on the outside and demo in the slot.

We never were going to resign Ward. He is gonna be 30 next season and teams don't give big contracts to 30-yr old CB's because corners are like RB's and WR's. 95% of them hit the wall at 30.

If Ward wants a big contract at his age let other team make that mistake.

Ward, Banks and Hufanga won't come back and we'll resign Greenlaw to a cheap 1-yr deal.

Wow, unexpected but so glad. I had a feeling if we didn't get a deal done in the offseason it mightve been as ugly as BA. But DMO is a dawg! He got so much better and has that nasty mentality.

Honestly it's have been $20m+ in the offseason. A cb who can play inside & out on the open market is getting paid

Two sides have to be willing to come together and make a deal during the season. I'm sure the 49ers don't just wait until the end of the year to try and negotiate but most players and their agents want to wait and maximize their contracts. Especially when they are playing well like Demo. Glad he didn't go that route and this got done.
