He's also another guy that needs to be paid.

They sounded very optimistic he would be 100% and it was a clean tear. You see the PD after he got injured? Ouch

Who exactly is saying this? Maybe they missed where the defense took a massive nosedive after his injury

I forgot which local media head I heard it from, but one of them suggested that Hufanga could be on the trading block because the team sees both Hufanga and Brown as strong safeties.

I'll believe it when I see it. We still haven't signed Gipson, so as it stands, there is no other starting caliber FS that would put Brown at SS and Hufanga on the bench.
Here's your FS if the Niners can sign him.

Wouldn't be mad one bit. Simmons at FS and Huf at SS.

Then why draft Brown? We all knew they were similar players prior to drafting him. And this draft pick was before Huf's injury and he just came off an all-pro season. I don't believe these reports.

You know players get hurt and you need a backup to step in. Also Huff is a FA after next season, they might not be able to or want to pay him.
That is why

I love brown long term. I'd rather keep both and my bigger concern is who's replacing Gipson.

I don't love Brown at SS that much. He's too aggressive right now and doesn't break down before he tackles.
A healthy Huff has much better feel, timing, and tackling in the open field. I don't think he he was healthy this year at all though, so we might have no choice letting him go do to health.
