Something about him just tells me he'd translate to middle linebacker watching him take on blocks and such. Only watched his highlights though. Only saw 2 where he was more than 10 yards down field.

I'm a SC guy, and have watched him every game. He reminds me of a smaller Lofa Tatupu (USC MLB and I believe he played on the cowks). He's smaller but the style of play is similar to a small middle linebacker that can cover tight ends (college tight ends).

I think he'll do well if he's positioned right. He's a smaller Cam Chancler(sp), so, you're not going single high with him... EVER. His skillsets really show after the 40 yard line when the field starts to shrink. That's when he can sink up into the box and start sniping short routs and heat seeking towards ball carriers. We'll see, but, he was available in the 5th for a reason; injuries and does not have top end speed. However, the top end speed never really factored on the field as he made up for it by being positioned well and reading the play.

On KNBR today a guest scout said his tape gave him deja vu of when he studied Fred Warner's BYU film. Said he was the steal of the draft.
Besides lance, this is my fav pick. He looks like a playmaker.

KAEP once trained with Kurt Warner... how did you like the TURN OUT ??
He looks like a strong safety / will linebacker hybrid, very physical but i think this trait can cause him to overplay the flow sometimes and get in trouble

AGREE, I believe that for him to be a good player in the league, he has to be a ROVER.. ... he'll be good in that 8 IN A BOX type of D when we play those teams that loves to run.

Then good thing this kid trained with Troy early, before becoming an NFL player.

Watching some of his tape today he actually does play more like a linebacker. That's not a bad thing as teams are looking for more Safety/LB hybrids that can cover tight ends.

Linebacker is just a position, you don't have to be Patrick Willis if it's 3rd and 15. He can be put in and Azeez or greenlaw can be taken out. He'll be covering the middle and short routs in a nickel defense.
