He's coming up on 30 and gets dinged up every year. This is likely his last year on the team.
I'm not so sure. Yeah he is 30 but he has low miles and I believe it was last year he had two of the fastest clocked speeds on the football field. Mostert still has plenty of juice in those legs. Question will be can he stay healthy and how much money does he want in 2022 and beyond.

Peters again cited the team's research and development crew when it came to selecting Mitchell. The department gave Mitchell the highest grade among draft-able running backs when it came to executing outside zone runs.

"Once you have the tape and you have the scouts on board and R&D says he's the highest grade on the outside-zone model and your offense is quite a bit of outside zone — I think it makes a lot of sense to pull the trigger there," he said.

True BPA selection. There was no need for another RB, but if there's a guy graded this highly still on the board, then go with your scouting.

He was a gimme pick. So many mock drafts had him going to the 49ers because of the scheme fit. I don't know if he'll ever be great but I think he can at least have a Breida like impact in this offense.

agreed

If he can be Breida, that's pretty freaking good (for a 6th round pick). Quality backup snaps for 4 years.

I don't think his age is that much of a concern as he hasn't had anywhere near the number of carries a 30 year old starting RB would have had by that time. He still is a homerun threat but if he goes, its likely over money IMO.

I take it you guys don't know s**t about the Draft War Room.
Mitchell can fulfill 3 needs for Coach...running, receiving and returning. That's a lot for a rookie, but I think this kid can do it all. He'll definitely give the return game a lift...it's been lagging in recent years. I'm pretty excited about him...and his future as a Niner. We all know there'll be somewhat of a shakeup next year when Mostert, Wilson, Hasty and Gallman either get re-signed or become UFA's. I'd love to see Wilson & Gallman stay. Along w/Sermon & Mitchell, that's arguably quite a backfield. I know a lot of fans love Mostert, and I totally get it. But, they can't keep 'em all. What a nice problem to have.

I'm kinda hoping we keep all 5 backs and Juice on the 53, if we go 2 QBs, I'd go with 5 backs. I just don't see the 49ers trading or cutting Mostert, Wilson, Sermon or Mitchell, trading Mostert would save over $3M, but he's the best back on the team, Wilson got a $1.13M signing bonus, only save $920K, rather keep him, as for Sermon and Mitchell, on cheap rookie deals, neither would make it to the PS IMO. Gallman might be odd man out, as is Hasty unfortunately, and I really like Hasty, hope he is on the PS, so in 2022 we have Sermon, Wilson, Mitchell & Hasty backfield & Juice of course.
I like Wilson but he offers nothing that Sermon can't do. Mostert, to me, is the easy re-sign and the only reason you wouldn't is because his skill level out prices him for us. Going into this season, I'd try to trade Wilson and run with mostert, sermon, Mitchell. If they want to keep four backs you go with gallman. Hasty back to practice squad

We haven't even seen what Sermon can do yet.

Do you even mayo bro?
We are going to use him like we use Deebo. In fact, he may be a backup plan in case Deebo gets banged up.
This pick suddenly makes a lot more sense

Like Deebo? I don't think so. They're looking for another diamond in the rough burner like Mostert or Brieda. Mostert is gone after this year. This kid has crazy speed. Looking forward to seeing him in preseason.
I may be in left field on this as I'm only going off of his highlights...Mitchell kind of reminds me of a speedier Jeff Wilson with his one-cut running style with some power in outside-zone running. Looking forward to seeing how he looks out there in this offense!

Totally agree.

And the Sermon pick. I think Wilson was injured before the draft.
