It's more about how the 49ers use analytics combined with film and team collaboration to arrive at a decision. Also, how the rookie DC got a measly 6th round pick to get a LB, and then that got taken away from him (lol).

49ers RB Elijah Mitchell (core) was cleared for OTAs.
Mitchell was on the field for the 49ers' first open practice on Tuesday. The third-year back is on track to be fully healthy after missing 12 games to injury last season. Mitchell will open 2023 as the 49ers' RB2 and the top hedge to Christian McCaffrey.
