Its always a thing here and there. Never injured for the year- just injured throughout the year lol.

I hear you. I personally think we should cut him. He's completely unreliable. I'm just trying to make sense of why we would place him on IR instead of just cutting him given his injury history and the fact that he's on the last year of his deal.
Thanks for a great rookie year. Sorry about all the injuries but I hope you catch on with another team.
Does a player have a say in going along with this? I mean a hamstring injury is not season ending, Can a player refuse to go to season ending IR and just ask for a release? Or because he's under contract he doesn't have any say?

Probably has to do with rehabbing and insurance. If we keep him on the "roster" then he can rehab in team facilities and with team doctors.

I don't understand why some fans get so upset about this. These players aren't taking up as spot on the 53 so who cares? If you got injured on your job would you want your employee to fire you immediately so you'll lose your health insurance and other benefits?

Agreed, sounds like something mutual between team and player. He gets to try and get healthy using their resources and that's his best chance at another shot in the future, here or elsewhere.

If I got injured on the job for 3 consecutive years, I'm sure my employer would find a way to cut ties with me…
He's destined to be doing commercials for hyperbaric therapy.

But there are laws that prevent this from happening in some states. Why is it such a big deal for Mitchell to be on the team if he's not taking up a roster spot?

I'm posting for first in ages to remind you all that we placed him on IR with the intention of attempting to have him on the books until the new league year to be included in the compensation pick formula as a free agent loss. The team may cut him with an injury settlement eventually but they are obviously trying maximize ROI on terribly injury prone player in the one way left. Also, an optimist could say that he and the FO talked and agreed that he should test FA after getting extra time to heal and consider opting to return next season hopes of staying healthy and earning a roster spot.

Underrated loss in the backfield. When healthy (and that's a big "when"), very dependable and trusted by Kyle in this offense & in big moments. Never fumbles. Re-watching the NFC championship game last year and he was in there at the end scoring the final touchdown and then getting the final carries to finish off the Lions.

Really hoping CMC can stay healthy again this year. Nothing against his main new backup Mason - always liked how hard & effective he runs - but he's still inexperienced with a heavier workload and especially in crucial moments such as playoff games. Hoping Mason really steps up this year and takes on the challenge when called upon.
