Lacks break away speed? He was literally the fastest pre draft RB this year. Ran a 4.33. Mostert was a 4.32.

Having Wilson back was really nice too. He's so solid. Mitchell and Wilson seemed to really complement each other tonight

He ran an impressive 4.38 40-yard-dash which ranks in the 96th percentile; he also ran a 6.94 3-cone (71st percentile), a 4.19 short shuttle (73rd percentile), and a vertical of 38" with a broad jump of 128", which is 81st and 93rd percentile

I would say he plays slower than his 40 time. Still a good back for this scheme though.
He played some WR in high school, if he can improve in that, I don't think we have seen all that is Elijah Mitchell
I'm liking this kid more and more each week.

Mostert plays faster at this point but he's been the fastest dude in the league for the last couple years. That said, Mitchell is fast as f**k too and definitely has "breakaway" speed.

Why did he fall to the 6th? Glad the 49ers didn't think they already took RB earlier so they didn't need another.

Looks like they didn't take an RB earlier if PT is any indication.

He said he dropped 15 pounds to get that fast 40 time. Then gained most of it back. Now he's a 4.40 guy buy always falls forward and breaks tackles so the trade off for .07 of a second is worth it

Ooooohhh man I'm getting excited. Hopefully he works on his hands and route running in the offseason so we can use him more as a pass catcher too!

Yeah, he's a keeper.

Can't help thinking how awesome it would be if the original timeline for Mostert (about 8 weeks) had held up.

Imagine him strolling back in with the way Mitchell and Wilson looked last night?
Mitchell has definitely been a nice surprise. Makes up for Sermon not living up to expectations. I loved the way they lined up Deebo in the backfield last night. If they ever get another good receiver he might make a great RB in the Roger Craig mold. Deebo isn't a great route runner but he would be very good as a receiver out of the backfield. He could be another 1000/1000 yard back.

Difference between game speed and what you're timed at. Look at how Mostert runs vs him. It's a night and day difference in their styles. Mostert hits it with speed like no other where Mitchell is more punishing. Think about all of the Mostert breakaway TD's. That's what I meant in break away speed. We haven't seen any td runs by Mitchell like we have of Mostert's have we. No.

i should've worded it better.

He is but he doesn't run like that. It's all good though. He's a stud:
