I guess they think Hurd and the Tennessee kid are going to be contributors this year....better hope so

I hope Hurd and James step up, I also hope Sherfield shows something special. If Jennings doesn't make it, keep him on the PS, he'd basically only have 1 real offseason, and finally preseason to show something.

Yes he does.
Two potential players in Watkins and Hilliard. Not bad after the Niners draft.

Our LB depth is very, very weak after the starting 3. Hilliard has a very, very strong shot to make the team if he can impress early.

I'm personally ok with that. It was the nickel defense not the run defense that failed in the super bowl. If you look at Walsh's super bowl teams, the linebacker position was the weakest position on the defense.

I think there are plenty of WR's for some keen competition...not counting on Hurd, but there are several other guys including Jennings I think can provide Jimmy/Lance plenty of good targets. Beyond getting our QB of the future, this draft was more about beefing up the OL and adding significant firepower to the backfield. Have to remember Mostert, Wilson and Gallman are only signed for this season. Of them, maybe one or possibly two are likely to be re-signed. My first choice would be Wilson, who showed last year how good he really is. I'm stoked about both Banks and Moore...Aaron's a huge man, but Coach says don't be fooled by it, he can move. I read he's an excellent pass protector. Moore may shift inside, we'll see. The important thing is these guys can help build the OL corps into a real strength. RG has been problematic for too long & I see Banks as the guy to change that. Thomas and Lenoir should be pretty competitive for roster spots...again, only Moseley's signed beyond this season. Really like Hufanga, the S out of USC. We're obviously going to play a good deal of smash-mouth football, which is music to my ears. It'll help Jimmy/Lance in terms of play-action, no doubt. Long drives keep opponents on the sidelines and give our defense the rest they'll need. I really like what ShanaLynch did in this draft...no nonsense, kick-butt approach.

I see the first 7 picks as making it, they're not gonna cut Thomas after taking him in the 3rd, also Lenoir I think makes it. the only pick I'm unsure about is Mitchell.

I think the Sermon pick seals the deal for Mostert not being here in 2022, he's 30 or so, wanted a new deal last yr, after he signed a 3yr deal the yr before. I think Wilson re-signs, and Gallman if he indeed makes it, no GTD money, but should make it.

Agree, it will be interesting what the 49ers can get for Mostert if they decide to move on from him.

Good points above, and I agree about the offense will be run dominated. Specially if Jimmy still has problems with his deep throws. However if Hurd pans out, I can see a more pass heavy attack as Jimmy can still hit those mid range throws with good accuracy.

Yeah, I'd prefer to keep all 5 backs, I know that sounds crazy, but I have a feeling Kyle will fall in love with Mitchell, and won't want to get rid of any of them. If we did, and Mostert gets traded, I think a 4th rd pick is fair, if Breida got us a 5th, Raheem should get us a 4th, both were on 1yr deals or in last yr of their deals.

Drafted couple of Arbys and now some people want get rid of Mosaratii... just WOW
Hilliard and Watkins are both really good signings. Hilliard has a chance to make the roster.

We could probably put a claim in for them after they're waived after the preseason.

I don't want to trade him, but I doubt he's back after 2021, he's gonna want good money, probably $5M a yr, I doubt Kyle trades him, I think he'll seriously consider keeping all 5 backs.

I mean even Kyle said he can't guarantee Mostert will be alive tomorrow.

Agree with you AB, a 4th sounds good considering Briedas value. And its been a while since Kyles actually drafted a RB this high, so I can see Mostert or Jeff being moved to keep Sermon if he pans out.

If Trey takes over in 2022, I can see them stay with 4 RBs as Trey might be used in place of that 5th Back. Just am amazed at how good Trey was in the later stages of 2019 as his connection with his recievers got better. He started hitting on those long range 30+ yard throws. It was amazing.
