Not gonna lie, part of me wanted the 49ers to draft Mac Jones, not because I wanted to see you rage, but because I don't want to see you bankrupt your family on 49er games! [Just kiddin']
I can't post it, but Austin Watkins Jr. got a $25K signing bonus, & $30K of his 2021 base salary guaranteed, comes from Barrows on TheAtheltic, he ranked the UDFAs, went Watkins, Hilliard, Sullivan, and Pederson.

So the 49ers have spent $85K of their $160K allowed on UDFAs, so they can sign more if they wanted to.
AB, who you got making the 53 from the WR group? I have Samuel-Aiyuk-James-Hurd-Sherfield, I would like to roll with 5, having Watkins+Jennings on our PS, but if Watkins kills it for us in practice and pre season, then I wouldn't mind him being our 6th.

I have the same 5, if we go 6, I would go with Watkins, I have Sanu in my latest roster projection, but that's more of a place holder, I don't see him making it, they could add him to PS if they wanted to since he won't have to thru waivers. If not Watkins, then Jennings, or if Benjamin impresses, then he could, I'm actually intrigued by 5 WRs, and keeping all 5 RBs plus Juice, I have a feeling Kyle will refuse to let any of the 5 to be cut, Hasty to PS.
Looks like we're on the same train of thought with our RB's and WR's. I don't see us trying to sneak any of our draft picks onto our PS, some have us trying to get Mitchell on our PS, but I think someone else would gobble him up, if we had to lose a RB, assuming Hasty is going to the PS, I would be fine with Gallman but if we can keep 5 RB's + Juice on our 53, then I am game, it might be hard though, assuming we might be keeping 5 safeties, 8-9 OL, 3 QB's, as you know it adds up quick, and we're probably looking 8-10 DL. LOL

My position breakdown is 3 QBs, 5 RBs, 1 FB, 6 WRs, 3 TEs, 8 OL, 9 DL, 5 LBs, 5 CBs, 5 Safeties, 3 ST, I bumped Givens off for now, until we know what's gonna happen with his legal issues, if he's convicted, he's a goner, if not, then he makes it, but I can see the NFL suspending him anyway, as they do their own investigation. Maybe the differences I might roll with is the 5 WRs, and add a 6th CB or 9th OL or 10 DL. Lots of talent, I just don't see Mitchell clearing waivers, so he's here.

The reason I went with 6 WRs in addition to 5 RBs with 1 FB, is because I read David Lombardi(we follow each other, and have talked via DM on Twitter plenty of time) his roster projection on The Athletic it says under his WRs that Kyle said he feels fine with the top 6 WRs going into 2021, so that makes me think he'll go 6 WRs, and he may indeed go light somewhere else to keep all 5 backs, but I don't see them cutting Mitchell, as he won't clear waivers.

I think we are going to see moestert, Wilson, Sermon and Mitchell to start the season with Hasty heading to the ps. I believe Gallman was insurance incase they didn't get Sermon and Mitchell. Do you know what Gallmans contract looks like?

Oooh really good assessment.

I still can't see us doing more than 5 WRs, especially if we're trying to develop another receiving TE. I don't know if we're done upgrading WR on the team. We don't have a reliable deep speed WR on the roster - no one close to Sanders/Goodwin fast. Do we upgrade our returner and ask James to only play WR with Bourne gone? I don't see a more effective proven slot player save Sanu in the WR room.

Hurd (injury) and Benjamin (age/injury) feel like "best case scenario" options.
James either becomes an amazing route runner or gets coached up in the return game.

Sherfiled, Cracraft, White, Cole, Jennings, Proehl and now Watkins. Someone is will need to step up and TAKE the 5th spot.

I do agree with Lombardi that Sermon feels more like a H-Back/FB that can run.

If we do go 5, I think it's set IMO, Aiyuk, Deebo, Sherfield, James, and Hurd. If we go 6, then Sanu, Jennings, Watkins, and others will battle it out.

One thing I wish the 49ers would do is go with just 2 QBs, everyone's saying "but Lance isn't ready to play" Lance will be active on gamedays, no reason to not activate him each week, but the other QB option, Rosen, Sudfeld? Neither have any real experience, I'd rather use that extra spot on someone else.

My ideal 53-Man Roster to begin the season would be:

QB(2): Jimmy Garoppolo(2022)/ Trey Lance(2024)
RB(5): Raheem Mostert(2021)/ Jeff Wilson Jr.(2021)/ Trey Sermon(2024)/ Wayne Gallman Jr.(2021)/ Elijah Mitchell(2024)
FB(1): Kyle Juszyzck(2025)
WR(6): Brandon Aiyuk(2023)/ Deebo Samuel(2022)/ Trent Sherfield(2021)/ Richie James Jr.(2021)/ Jalen Hurd(2022)/ 1 of Mohamed Sanu Sr.(2021), Jauan Jennings(2021), Travis Benjamin(2021), & Austin Watkins Jr.(2023)
TE(3): George Kittle(2025)/ Ross Dwelley(2021)/ Charlie Woerner(2023)
C(2): Alex Mack(2023)/ Daniel Brunskill(2021)
OG(4): Laken Tomlinson(2021)/ Aaron Banks(2024)/ Colton McKivitz(2023)/ Jaylon Moore(2024)
OT(3): Trent Williams(2026)/ Mike McGlinchey(2022)/ Justin Skule(2022)
DE(5): Arik Armstead(2024)/ Nick Bosa(2022)/ Samson Ebukam(2022)/ Arden Key(2021)/ Jordan Willis(2021)
DT(2): Javon Kinlaw(2023)/ Maurice Hurst Jr.(2021)
NT(2): D.J. Jones(2021)/ Zach Kerr(2021)
LB(5): Fred Warner(2021)/ Dre Greenlaw(2022)/ Azeez Al-Shaair(2021)/ Demetrius Flannigan-Fowles(2021)/ Nathan Gerry(2021)
CB(5): Jason Verrett(2021)/ Emmanuel Moseley(2022)/ K'Waun Williams(2021)/ Ambry Thomas(2024)/ Deommodore Lenior(2024)
FS(2): Jimmie Ward(2022)/ Tarvarius Moore(2021)
SS(3): Jaquiski Tartt(2021)/ Marcell Harris(2021)/ Talanoa Hufanga(2024)
ST(3): Robbie Gould(2022)/ Mitch Wishnowsky(2022)/ Taybor Pepper(2022)

Dee Ford would be put on short term IR, he'd have to make the 53 man roster, so they cut a vested veteran, and then bring him back the next day, as they don't have to go through waivers.

If Kyle goes 3 QBs, then I'd kick Skule off, still keep the 6 WRs and 5 RBs, if they only go 5 WRs, then add in a OL(Skule) or DL(Daniels).

I'd say Givens, but the legal issues concern me, plus he could be suspended anyway, the NFL does their own investigation, we've seen players suspended before anything was resolved, or even if they're not convicted, so I'm assuming Givens is either suspended or ends up guilty, the 49ers release him, as they don't want any part of it)

I can't peg the QB room yet. Sudfeld is getting paid like a back-up. Rosen is a flyer from last year. There's so much competition here. I do agree with your RBs. I say we keep both Gallman and Mitchell. So much competition. We'll still make a move at CB too. I think Sherm will be back.

Honestly until this past yr I would rather have had just one good backup instead of 2 that were so so...even with kyle as OC/HC. Sure Mullie came in a few games and looked like a world beater, but he never was going to get us to game #19. So if it isn't a real talent who can come in and lite it up, I have to throw in with GM and agree. Lance and Jimmy G and pray for good health. Rosen , Sudfeld...rather keep another DL/OL/WR/CB, whatever. Now i think we just wasted good space last yr...altho we had no TALENT as back up ...and now we do. Times change, situations same. Go with our two stars.

That Austin Watkins Jr has a great pair of hands and good size. I hope he has good camp.

I'm rooting for Watkins, and Hilliard, who's story is great, 6yrs at OSU, injury plagued, came back in 2020, didn't opt out, played his best season, I think he could take one of those backup LB spots away from Flannigan-Fowles or Gerry.

I hope he's our 3rd lb. I think he's definitely more talented then the others just needs to stay healthy

I'm not gonna put either of the 2 LBs(Hilliard and Sullivan) or Watkins on my 53 until I see them in the preseason, but from what I've read all 3 could make it, and I'm fine with that, DFF, Gerry, and even Al-Shaair scare me being backups to Warner & Dre.
