This is true. I'm still excited though. It's football. Anything can happen and I know at bare minimum, this team is going to fight until the death. Exciting year cometh.

I called the Zakelj in the who will surprise make the 53 thread.

It always seemed like he was a guy they liked but were willing to spend time developing him. Big, strong, good feet. Needs to learn how to cheat with his hands. He reminds me a bit of Brunskill in that he might fit in different spots.

Other than size, I haven't seen any redeeming qualities from Zakelj's game. Maybe I missed something.

Same with Jaylon Moore. I could understand them cutting Manning due to his inexperience in run blocking in this scheme, but Moore didn't look great there either.

Zakelj was a little surprising to me but I wasn't shocked. I actually think he plays solid outside of his penalties.

i can't wrap my head around moore. I feel like that guy is awful but they keep doing everything they can to give him a chance. Lol

im not too skilled at breaking down o line, so I could be way off, but I feel like I've always seen moore just get abused.

On Zakelj, I did a little research on him. I found out he's durable as heck, and while he may not be a top flight OLineman, if he's durable and can continue to just show up. Durability is Ability. Guys who are durable usually improve over time with enough game reps AND they have some modicum of talent.

Saying a lineman just needs to work on his hands is like saying a boxer just needs to work on not getting hit.

Hands are everything for an offensive lineman

He needs to go against Bosa in practice more often, that should accelerate his hand fighting ability.

Nick Zakelj is a big dude, young (24), has promise to be a solid lineman. He was drafted in 2022. When I watched him play this pre season, I thought his main issue was just penalties (which are obviously a big problem) but I think he's much more capable at this point than poe and manning - I also think he is more versatile.

the big problem with our reserve O lineman this year, besides sucking, is that they aren't versatile. It's why we have 9 instead of 8. We don't have a swing player - only guys who can play either left or right

Dwelley is a real good receiver at TE. There is a reason why he makes the team years and years in a row. He's good at what he does. Just don't misplace him. In roles he's not best suited for.
