Nick Zakelj is a big dude, young (24), has promise to be a solid lineman. He was drafted in 2022. When I watched him play this pre season, I thought his main issue was just penalties (which are obviously a big problem) but I think he's much more capable at this point than poe and manning - I also think he is more versatile.
the big problem with our reserve O lineman this year, besides sucking, is that they aren't versatile. It's why we have 9 instead of 8. We don't have a swing player - only guys who can play either left or right
Agree, and also it's possibly to add more depth to that OLine so that if Trent or one of the other OLinemen go down, you have somebody more than a Tom Compton, or Person level talent to take over in protecting Purdy. Also, I think it can help Trent get to the playoffs rested and healthy, if they can rest Trent during the season because they have an OLineman that's good enough to sub in for Trent so that they can rest Trent -- if he gets his usual assorted dings and divots on his body during the season.
