Based on usage, 6 WRs might be overkill, especially when SF is at the bottom on the league running 3 WR sets.

9 OL on the active roster isn't necessary. They'll probably only suit 7 on gameday anyways and they'll probably have at least 3 more OL on the practice squad.

You need 8 OL dressed to have 48 players active each week, I agree 8 is more than enough, we'll keep 3 on the PS, a C, G, and T, my guesses Jake Brendel, Dakoda Shepley, and Shon Coleman. They'll have Alfredo Gutierrez but he won't be allowed to play, not even sure if he counts against the teams cap if on PS.

Yeah, with the new COVID rules, having 8 OL count towards your 53 is very possible. 9 if you fear losing an important one.

Hurst Jr (I think they keep extra ER Willis vs another Tackle)

While it's hard to find another suitable OT on the open market right now, maybe re-signing Ben Garland at the back up C/OG would make more sense if we put Brunskill who I believe is better than Skule, at swing OT.

Also, I like Mayden and think he is ready to produce in place of T. Moore.

I like it 60sfan, we mostly agree. I have Tony Jefferson over Mayden, but I'm a huge fan of Mayden's, can play both Safety spots and CB.

I have Gerry over Burgess for now, I need to see them in preseason.

BTW, you have 54 listed, I'd just keep 8 OL, you have 9 listed, I just have little faith in Coleman who hasn't played in like 2-3 years.

My hope is Dee is ready early, like maybe week 3, when I'm in Santa Clara for the home opener,

Dee would make a huge difference if healthy.

I just worry about Coleman's desire to play. I think he's better than McKivitz and Moore at this point. That said, I understand going with the younger easier contracts.

Enjoy the home opener! Expecting a report from you.
Really hope Gallman makes the team and gets some significant game time. I like him a lot.

With this roster, I have the 49ers at $4,860,473 under the 2021 salary cap, but that's without a Fred Warner extension, so with that said, I'd restructure Arik Armstead's contract, saving the team $4.528 million, so that would give the 49ers $9,388,473, but with a Warner extension, taking up $3 million in cap room, the team would open 2021 with $6,388,473 in salary cap room.

In doing this, I would keep Warner's 2022 cap number around $5.5 million, with a $15 million signing bonus paid this year, plus a $3.075 million protected option bonus due on April 1, 2022, along with guaranteeing his 2021, & 2022 base salaries, part of their 2023 & 2024 base salaries, while also guaranteeing the rest of his 2023 & 2024 base salaries for injury, but fully guaranteed on April 1, 2022 for 2023, & April 1, 2023 for 2024.

In total, the projected 5-year extension, would be worth between $19 million to $20 million a year, with over $50 million in guaranteed money, over $40 million of it being fully guaranteed.

Also, with Arik Armstead's restructure, it'll add $1.132 million to his cap numbers from 2022-2024, which under this roster, the 49ers would have 31 players signed for 2022, with those 31 accounting for $192,366,308, plus $4,521,182 in dead money, for a total of $196,887,490, and if the 2022 cap does come in at the ceiling of $208.2 million, it'd give them $11,312,510 in cap room, but that number is deceiving, as that counts just 31 players, not another 19 players to get to the top 51 rule, which would put the team $2,082,490 over the cap.

Now, we also have to take into account that Deebo Samuel, Dre Greenlaw, & Mitch Wishnowsky's base salaries will likely see an increase up to $2.396 million, with Greenlaw getting an additional $250,000, which would be a total of $3,513,360 difference between those 3 players current base salaries to their projected new cap numbers, which would put the team $5,595,850 over the 2022 salary cap.

Of course, Jimmy Garoppolo won't be with the 49ers in 2022, which would save the team $24.895 million, which would give the team $19,299,150 in salary cap room to begin the 2022 offseason.

With Warner locked up, likely through 2026, it would leave the 49ers with very few big name free agents to re-sign, with the likely players they'd like to bring back being, running backs Raheem Mostert, & Jeff Wilson Jr., left guard Laken Tomlinson, defensive end Arden Key, defensive tackle Maurice Hurst Jr., nose tackles D.J. Jones, & Zach Kerr, cornerbacks Jason Verrett, & K'Waun Williams, free safety Tarvarius Moore, & strong safety Jaquiski Tartt.

They would also have a few RFAs & ERFAs, most notably wide receiver Jauan Jennings, center Daniel Brunskill, defensive end Alex Barrett, defensive tackle Kevin Givens, & strongside Linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair, in which I can see them signing Brunskill & Al-Shaair to 1-year deals, that are below the lowest RFA tender, while Barrett & Givens would only count $895,000, while Jennings would only count $825,000, as all 3 are ERFAs.

The 49ers could also look to bring back, depending on their play, the following, quarterback Josh Rosen, running back Wayne Gallman Jr., wide receivers Trent Sherfield, & Mohamed Sanu Sr., tight ends Ross Dwelley, & MyCole Pruitt, weakside linebacker James Burgess Jr., free safety Tony Jefferson, & strong safety Marcell Harris.

Most of these players could be brought back on 1-year, veteran minimum salary deals.

I expect the 49ers to re-sign Tarvarius Moore to a 1-year deal, where he gets paid more in cash, but counts less against the cap, just like K'Waun Williams signed, the Fourth Year Qualifying Contract benefit deal.

The 49ers, in my opinion, can keep their core players with that near $19.3 million, just as they did this offseason with very little cap room to work with, but, with Warner extended, there won't be a player the caliber of Trent Williams or Kyle Juszyzck to be re-signed, which would allow the team to look into extending the likes of Deebo Samuel, & Dre Greenlaw, plus Nick Bosa, whose 5th-year option will have to be picked up by May 3, 2022.

Some other ways the 49ers can create cap room, if needed, are by restructuring the contracts of George Kittle, & Arik Armstead, which would save $8.322 million for Kittle, & $10.424 million for Armstead.

Originally, I would have had Jimmie Ward as a cap casualty, as the 49ers could save $6.795 million, but with the injury to Moore, the 49ers will likely hold onto Ward, and, I can't believe I'd be saying this, but Ward will likely play out his 3-year, $28.5 million deal he signed in 2020.

I have him on the 53, what I think happens, and don't freak out, the 49ers cut Gallman on final cuts, Dee is on the 53 man, the next day Dee goes on IR so he can come back after 3 weeks if he's ready, then they re-sign Gallman the next day since he doesn't have to go through waivers, plus they'd already have this agreed upon, as it happens every year, a player gets cut, so a guy can go on short term IR, then re-signed the next day when you can sign players to the practice squad.

He has a really good chance bc of the injury to Wilson

Yeah that's the main reason I have him 0n the opening day roster, if not for Wilson's injury, I'd keep Mitchell over Gallman, I don't see him passing waivers, then put Gallman on the PS.

AB, I like most of your 53 man predictions, only thing I am a little off on, is Barrett making the 53, and then our WR's. Sherfield to me I would try to trade off for like a 2023 or 2024 7th round pick, so we get out from his GTD money. I would much rather have Sanu or Jennings over him, and I don't want to roll with 6 WR's, especially when we are only rolling with 4 LB's, unless both Harris and Hufanga are being groomed as hybrid LB/S, then it doesn't matter there, but I still want 1 less WR, and 1 more T on our 53, probably Coleman.
Also just noticed that you don't have Richie James making your top 6 WR's, or PS? I am assuming that was an oversight, or do you just not like James?

I am more confident everyday that Jimmy is not on the roster for week 1. I don't think they can keep him. If he gets hurt after week one, he not only is guaranteed his contract for 2021, but should he be injured enough to not pass his physical for the start of the following season in 2022, his salary for that season is guaranteed and would count against the cap. 49ers cannot afford to take a 50M hit for this and next season. Let's use the money to pick up another ER like Justin Houston and maybe another CB and this team will be stuffed to the gills with talent! I am on the record, Jimmy is gone before week one.😓

No. Should he get hurt bad enough this season where he would not be able to pass a physical by the start of the following season, then the 49ers would have to pay him his contract for that season as well. In that case, 49ers would be out 50M between the 2 seasons.
