Yeah I don't think he makes it either. I haven't even heard about him getting any reps at KR or PR either.

Yeah with his XWR speed (Marquise Goodwin role) and return ability and after a year off (motivation), I figured he'd carve out a nice role here as a veteran but I've been seeing Kyle use Sherfield outside more and he's already an excellent gunner on ST. Kyle might actually be going bigger bodies at 4-6 (Sanu, Hurd, Jennings, etc.) now instead of the small slots he used to roll with.

Alright, latest modification leading into the first pre-season game. Certainly could change after that.

(2) QB: Jimmy Garoppolo, Trey Lance
(4) RB: Raheem Mostert, Trey Sermon, Elijah Mitchell, Wayne Gallman
(1) FB: Juice
(6) WR: Brandon Aiyuk, Deebo Samuel, Jalen Hurd, Mohamed Sanu, Richie James, Trent Sherfield
(3) TE: George Kittle, Ross Dwelley, Charlie Woerner
(4) OT: Trent Williams, Mike McGlinchey, Colton McKivitz, Jaylen Moore
(4) IOL: Laken Tomlinson, Alex Mack, Daniel Brunskill, Aaron Banks

(5) DE: Nick Bosa, Dee Ford, Samson Ebukam, Arik Armstead, Arden Key
(6) DT: Javon Kinlaw, Kevin Givens, DJ Jones, Zach Kerr, Kentavius Street, Maurice Hurst
(5) LB: Fred Warner, Dre Greenlaw, Justin Hilliard, Azeez Al-Shaair, Marcell Harris
(5) CB: Jason Verrett, Emmanuel Moseley, Ambry Thomas, Deommodore Lenoir, K'Waun Williams
(5) S: Jimmie Ward, Jaquiski Tartt, Tavon Wilson, Tony Jefferson, Talanoa Hufanga

(3) STS: Robbie Gould, Mitch Wishnowsky, Taybor Pepper

Notes:
-I think Harris edges DFF due to actual NFL playing time/experience advantage. Hilliard surprises and makes it as an UDFA.
-At the end of the day, I understand we gave some money to Sudfield, but he has to be among the best 53. I can't give him the nod over some of the other fringe players we've got. Just can't.

I liked him coming out, but at this point WR is the last thing we need. Benjamin, James, Jennings, White, Watkins all fighting to MAYBE make last spot on roster and MAYBE make PS. Crazy to say but I don't see how Mims is going to help us anymore than what we have.

I personally think the 6th WR spot is down to Benjamin, James & Jennings. White's done nothing to warrant to a 53 man roster spot, Watkins I think may be too raw, but I'd bring him back to the PS.

Bolded are who I also have on my roster.

I'm torn at WR, if James makes it, plus Sherfield, who is a lock IMO, and should be a Gunner, which WR sits? Sanu? His $915K salary is fully GTD if he makes it, I mean it's a great problem to have, just unsure how Kyle would tackle it.

Also at RB, who is the 3rd back on gamedays? Mitchell has flashed in camp, while Gallman had a great 2020.

I still have Pruitt on my 53, I just think the $637,500 GTD is what makes him a lock, they liked him so much that they gave him that much.

I agree on all 8 OL, no need for a 9th, with Jaylon Moore being used at Tackle right now, Lombardi says the 49ers see him as a Tackle exclusively now, I imagine he'll get looks at Guard down the road. Just hope McKivitz can improve more, so we don't HAVE to re-sign Laken, who I am a fan of, but a $5.5M a yr LG for a team that just paid Trent, a LT $23.01M a yr, plus Mack makes good money, McGlinchey has a GTD $10.808M in 2022. I think a line next year of Trent Williams-Colton McKivitz-Alex Mack-Aaron Banks-Mike McGlinchey could be as good as this years lineup, with Brunskill & Moore as swing guys, Brunskill C, G, T, Moore, T, & maybe G, then draft another young guy, maybe a Center.

I have DFF as my 5th LB, my locks are Warner, Dre, Azeez, & Harris(he got a good amount of GTD money), I'd love to see a guy like Hilliard win a spot, but I give it to DFF for now.

Not sure the 49ers go that deep at DL, with 11, the past 2 seasons they kept 9 to begin I believe, 10 max.

I hope they go 2 QBs, I just have no faith in Rosen or Sudfeld.

But, for the most part, we agree on basically 99% of the roster, just final few spots to win, I have 7 open (3rd QB, 4th RB, as I think Hasty still has a chance to beat out Gallman, who could go straight to the PS, 5th & 6th WR, as I'm not sure Sanu is a lock, 5th LB, 2nd FS, & 2nd SS with Tartt on PUP)

As usual, we agree pretty much everywhere, like I said above to OTC, I wish they'd go 2 QBs, also a 9th OL isn't needed with Jaylon Moore, according to Lombardi, being used at Tackle now, and should be the swing tackle, so if we need someone, we should be able to get Coleman on the PS, not sure anyone else will want him, hasn't played since 2017 I believe, injured in CLE in 2018, tore his ACL here, opted out last year, I also have Jake Brendel on the PS and Shepley.

I still think Woerner makes it, I don't know if he clears waivers, now that there are 3 cutdown dates, after each preseason game.

At WR I have the same 6, but I'm so confused by who's the inactive, Aiyuk, Deebo, Sherfield are locks IMO, if Benjamin is the KR/PR then he is too, so do you bench Hurd or Sanu? Sanu's $915K is GTD week 1 if he makes it.

I'm right there with you. I might adjust down to 8 OL and a 4th TE again...maybe Matthews? Maybe another WR or LB or SS if Tartt goes on I.R.

Luckily Tartt would start on PUP, so only 6 games missed, if placed on IR now he's out for the season, if he makes the 53, then put on IR, he'll only have to miss 3 games.
I forgot, I did an article, https://49erscap.com/index.php/2021/08/09/looking-at-4-different-49ers-roster-projections-with-3-vs-2-quarterbacks-plus-jaquiski-tartt-on-the-53-vs-on-pup-with-analysis/

Basically I did 4 projections, 1 with 3 QBs + Tartt on PUP, 1 with 3 QBs + Tartt on 53, 1 with 2 QBs + Tartt on PUP, & 1 with 2 QBs + Tartt on 53.

Yeah, hardly any dispute overall. Pre-season obviously will help, and then knowing the health status of everyone over the next few weeks. By then we might have a near unanimous educated guess lol.

Agreed 100%, need to see the players fighting for those 7 or so spots in preseason.

Correct, sorry. That's what I meant! PUP.

Hurd (Guessing Hurd goes on PUP)

Hurd can't go on PUP, he would have had to have been placed on Active/PUP and still be on it, once activated they can't go back on. Plus Lombardi said Hurd was healthy, running and everything, IMO, he makes it. It's down to James, Jennings & Benjamin for the 6th WR spot.

I still see Kyle keeping 4 TEs, with Pruitt being a lock, Woerner over Matthews, who has never played TE, just sign him to the PS.

I think Jefferson makes it over Mayden, but if we go with just Jimmy & Trey at QB, I'd keep Mayden at CB over Johnson, way more upside, can play both FS, SS & CB.
Ok, just saw Kyle's updates on injuries. If Hurd can't stay healthy, then yeah either he goes on Short Term IR or that's it, he's cut. Sucks about Tartt.
