What exactly is their play here?

I hope they know. At this point unless he blows up these last 2 games he is stealing a roster spot. And Jennings seems to be making him look expendable. They've invested a lot in Hurd at this point. He has to show a return on that investment. Would be a painful cut if it comes to that.

What's crazy is that Hurd switched positions in college because he wanted to have a longer career, since he was getting beaten as a RB for the Vols. Considering his size I don't blame him one bit. But he hasn't stayed healthy. Will they have even more patience with him as they did with Kentavius Street? We'll know in 2 weeks.

Great point about Street. They do seem to have EXTREME patience with players esp. ones they've personally drafted or paid big money too.

could be a culture play.

Players know the team will show an ounce of loyalty thereby boosting morale and attracting free agents.

Or ego is high and they don't want to admit a mistake.

I run a large organization of people, i myself can be a victim of Halo Effect where i overvalue a person and downplay below average results just because of their potential.

I like it but I think Street makes it over Kerr and Hasty over Gallman... Wouldn't be surprised if Marcell Harris doesn't make it and they go with just 5 lbs either. I'm kinda hoping we can trade a DT for a CB

With Mitchell expected out for the preseason, I see him going on Short Term IR, meaning Hasty makes it, Gallman is cut, so Mitchell can go on short term IR, then the next day Gallman is re-signed. Same with Hurd, he'll go on short term IR IMO.

With Flannigan-Fowles cleared, who I had on short term IR in my latest roster projection, will battle with Kendricks for backup WLB spot IMO, I also like Griffith for the backup MLB spot. Below is my latest roster, need to make some adjustments due to cuts.

Obviously Watkins was waived/injured, once he clears waivers, he'll revert to the 49ers IR list, and then like I said DFF was cleared, so now I think he may take Watkins spot on the teams PS.

AB, You really think Aaron Banks is going to start at RG week 1? If it was me I would rather not have Sudfeld and add another OL to the depth. Just my personal preference.

Probably not, likely Brunskill starts, but in long run I think Banks ends up at RG sometime this year, I agree, I'd cut Sudfeld for a Lineman or a player they don't want to lose. 3 QBs is a waste, especially when your options were Sudfeld or Rosen, who was just cut.

Yah, I think a 3rd QB can just be stashed away on the practice squad, no need to burn a roster spot for one.

No, they have to make the initial 53, but that's not an issue, you just cut Gallman, & Kendricks, then they get re-signed the next day when Hurd & Mitchell go on IR, Gallman & Kendricks wouldn't have to go through waivers, plus this is a normal thing that happens every year, so don't be surprised if someone like Gallman, Kendricks, Ha Ha, or Sanu are cut, bu then re-signed the next day, the player(s) will be told to stay in the Bay Area, to sign the deal the next day, again happens every year with pretty much every team, they won't lose any of the players they cut to get whoever onto Short Term IR.

Understood! Thanks for the explanation.
