FWIW, on 148 snaps last year, PFF's rating for Compton was 68.1, which would put him in a tie for #20 overall among guards. His ratings between PP and RB were almost equal. McKivitts was rated at 53 which would have put him at #66. I'm not surprised by the move, however, I do expect McK back on the PS.

I think both McKivitts and Brendel have a better chance to make it to the PS than Compton.

I am assuming that Richie James clears waivers and ends up on 49ers IR, correct?
