I see him making it over Willis.

TBF I have Omenihu making it, I like him to take over Arden Key's role of playing Outside & Inside.

We did keep 11 DL last year on the original 53.

Very true, forget where we went light though?

Here's what I had:
QB (2)
RB (4)
FB (1)
TE (3)
WR (6)
OL (8)
DL (11)
LB (4)
CB (6)
S (5)
ST (3)

If Mack returns, I could see 8 OL, but I'd go 9 to be safe. Take away a S or DL. Maybe DL since some safeties can play LB if needed.

Numbers game will be very tricky this year.

Yeah, the new-old COVID Rules mean you can protect 2 players on the PS each week and you need to have 8 OL active on game days so there's an avenue for keeping just 8 OL on the roster with 2 on the PS...protected (once they clear).

You can actually protect up to 4 players each week, and elevate up to 2, but only 2 times a season per player, unless a COVID-19 replacement. I think we keep at least 9 OL, also to have 48 players active each week you must have 8 OL active, if you decide just 7, then you're only able to activate 47 players.

Trun true! I really want to keep 9 too!

I still think McKivitz makes it, and I think Verrett begins on either PUP or IR, I have both Castro-Fields, & Lenoir making it, I don't think either passes waivers TBH, but that's my 2 cents.

I also wish we took Araiza, but I like our draft.

Araiza can really boom that pigskin.
He is boom or bust to me though. Does not have the end over end kick or many other nuanced traits sort after. There is a reason 2 other punters were picked before him in the draft. He will be fun to watch though.
The college punting classes seem to keep improving so next year should be interesting after this year's record 4 punters drafted.

Yeah, I remember when the first Punter was drafted, I was kinda shocked, but then Daniel Jeremiah, who may be the only draft analyst I like, said that the issue is hangtime, so I get it. He needs to work on some things.
The 53 projection for this season will be the hardest to predict since I have been paying attention to this sort of thing. We are loaded with so much depth, we will for sure lose good players to other clubs this season. Maybe the most in recent memory. There will be a lot of room for argument on this thread this season. Should be fun!

There are some there I see making the 53, but what I am really intrigued about is what a super sized Practice Squad/ B- Team would look like from these scrubs.
And you could only include those worthy of playing at a low NFL level (like Cleveland or Jags as a comparison). Ignoring the specialists could it field a decent team of 22 plus some depth and assuming same scheme is played as the main team?

With this roster, the 49ers would have a cap commitment of $207,097,702, plus $12,123,695 in dead money, for a total cap commitment of $219,221,397, which would put them $5,847,236 over their 2022 adjusted cap, which means they'd need to restructure at least 2 deals, likely Trent Williams($4.904 million), & Fred Warner($1,223,200), for a total savings of $6,127,200, leaving them $279,964 under their 2022 adjusted cap, meaning they'd have to restructure someone in-season if/when they need more cap room, with really the only options being asking Jimmy Garoppolo to take a pay cut, maybe ask Samson Ebukam to take a pay cut, or extend Jimmie Ward's deal, which saves $6.224 million, and this roster really is the worst case scenario, it would mean that the 49ers wouldn't have been able to trade Garoppolo, and refused to release him.

McKivitz - His versatility is valuable and key to being a backup olinemen. Played well in spot duty last year when he started for Trent. One of the few members on our oline that can play tackle.

Hurst - If he can stay healthy all he has to do is beat either Ridgeway or the rookie Davis. Just not a lot of depth here

Hufanga - played well last year. Maybe not the best cover guy we have but he was only a rookie. Not a lot of competition at S. Could very well be a starter.

I think our best camp battles will be a corner.

I don't see a scenario where Jimmy is kept as a backup with that salary. He must either be released or traded. If not, the reports about Trey underwhelming must have some truth.

I could totally make a case for those guys as well. Zero issues with that rationale.
