With this roster, the 49ers would have a cap commitment of $207,097,702, plus $12,123,695 in dead money, for a total cap commitment of $219,221,397, which would put them $5,847,236 over their 2022 adjusted cap, which means they'd need to restructure at least 2 deals, likely Trent Williams($4.904 million), & Fred Warner($1,223,200), for a total savings of $6,127,200, leaving them $279,964 under their 2022 adjusted cap, meaning they'd have to restructure someone in-season if/when they need more cap room, with really the only options being asking Jimmy Garoppolo to take a pay cut, maybe ask Samson Ebukam to take a pay cut, or extend Jimmie Ward's deal, which saves $6.224 million, and this roster really is the worst case scenario, it would mean that the 49ers wouldn't have been able to trade Garoppolo, and refused to release him.

I think we're even closer on this version!

PS: I want to keep 10 OL so badly! I always do though. LOL

Hurst - If he can stay healthy all he has to do is beat either Ridgeway or the rookie Davis. Just not a lot of depth here

Hufanga - played well last year. Maybe not the best cover guy we have but he was only a rookie. Not a lot of competition at S. Could very well be a starter.

I think our best camp battles will be a corner.

I agree with McKivitz, I love him, played really good Week 18 for Trent at LT.

If Hurst stays healthy, he likely makes it over Givens, I don't see Ridgeway being cut, plus he's a NT, Hurst should lineup behind AA.

Agreed, Huf, he's making the team, not great, not bad, he's good, at least for STs, I think Moore might end up starting at SS.

CB is gonna be fun to watch if everyone is healthy, I would still go with 7(Ward, Moseley, Ambry, Lenoir, Johnson, Womack, & Castro-Fields, with Verrett on PUP to begin), or knock Johnson off, cause I don't see Womack, Castro-Fields, or Lenoir clearing waivers, and this would be to keep Leon O'Neal Jr. on the team, if he does play very well.

I do too, I want 10 OL, & 11 DL lol, but likely won't happen, we're gonna keep either 4 RBs & 6WRs or 4RBs & 5WRs, idk where we'd go thin, TE? if 5 WRs, then we have a spot for an OL, but what about a DL? Another DB(O'Neal), or a LB(Gemmel)
Given Shanahan's track record I don't see him starting a rookie at RG. It would be someone like Brunskill or Moore or McKivitz.
Still believe Samson Ebukam is getting paid too much. He is ok but not worth what he's getting paid imo. Charles Omenihu, Willis, Kemoko Turay, Hyder and the rookie Jackson provides a nice DE rotation.
Dump Jimmy and Ebukam and you have nice flexibility to give Deebo his extension.

We save $6M+ by cutting Ebukam. And with Drake Jackson, it seems like he's expensive and not necessarily worth it.
Sure seems like the decision to bring in a lot of DL newbies was to shed some salary...

For real! You got me. No doubt an injury here and there will probably make this easier. But I hope not.

That's likely. Agreed. That said, the FO had a 3rd round grade on Burford. That's a starter. So we'll see!

Ebukam. Jackson is a second round rookie who will be dirt cheap for at least 3 years.

Ya sorry that wasn't written well. I like Ebukam, but he seems redundant and expensive now.

Expensive? Yes, Redundant/Not Needed? No, can't have enough quality EDGE rushers, even at his cap number, I'm fine with it, he should be the starter, now if he doesn't play well in TC/Preseason, & then they could cut him.

Like i said, "flame away" on 10, or gasp, 11 OLs. At least now we are talking about it…almost surely won't happen, but when we get down to "from which position " do we take away a slot or two, and give it to OL…we now have a discussion.

Prior to this carrying 10 or 11 OLs was just verboten. But what about one less DB, or one less RB, or one less LB, or one (or 2) less WRs? WRs didn't kill us in the meaningful ball games last yr, nor did LBs. And mostly except for NFCC, nor did DLs (injuries). yeah, RBs were injured so Deebo had to be frog marched into RB, which we now know was not a good idea (and i posted as such for exactly the reasons he doesn't want to play RB..injuries. The kid is a WR, and doesn't have the body for a Rb.) but that still leaves us with 3 RBs. We really need 4 or 5 RBs?

What killed us last yrs and yrs before? Oh, well CBs, Ss, and OLs…all with same problem…injuries(or lack of talent). But the most glaring problem injury wise was OLs, and we flat out didn't have enough to make it thru a full season PLUS Playoffs. And that has been a recurring problem since. JL/KS came here. Not protecting your FRQB seems just reckless…at least to me, anyway.

If we do something REALLY foolish and go 8 OLs, then i would suggest our F.O go back and review the last 5 seasons, all of which we shorted the OL. When you burn 3 picks on drafting your FRQB, it just seems somebody would think about protecting him, now that we have him starting.

"Egg on face" will not come close to enough if it results from seeing Trey go down to injury from lack of OL pass pro. Nobody in the F.O nor any fans want to see our FRQB go down to injury from crappy pass pro. Okay, then fine. Why in the world not carry enough OLs to protect him? BTW….our OLs were hurt as much as our DLs…but OLs had only 3 or 4 guys to fill injury holes, while DL had 4 or 5 guys (2 1/2 DLs for each DL position)

Having 5 or 6 WRs when we have au jus PLUS 2 TEs + all 3 RBs that can catch passes? Sure seems smarter to protect your QB so that he can throw a pass to one of 4 WRs. What good is 5 or 6 WRs if your FRQB is getting beaten up from lousy OL Pass pro? Better to keep 10 ( 1 extra OL at each OL slot) and allow Trey time to throw the ball than have 6 WRs and a broken down / injured OL and no healthy QB to throw to those 6 WRs….. Right?

ok…now RELOAD, and fire away.

If he's slated to be a starter, then I agree with you. If he's a rotational guy, he's not much more than Willis or Hyder IMO.
