Looks like he pumps it so it doesn't get batted down. Then throws it when he has a clear shot through the d line. actually a really calm play to make for a rookie.

The more I look at it, looks like he hesitated (on purpose) because the D-Line could have batted that initial throw down. Then had enough power to still get it there. There's my analysis

This. It looks like he used it to clear the throwing lane. Or he was able to pull it back seeing the lane closing and then get it out. Either way, nice play.
