How do you know? You know for a fact that Trey won't be a good or even great QB in the next couple of years? You know for a fact that Miami is going to get great players with those picks? Fact is you know nothing just like the rest of us. If they hadn't made the trade and Trey ends up being like Mahomes then all we would hear for the next 5 years is how we passed up a chance to land a great QB.

The good news is that we never pick well in the first round anyway

First round picks are overrated.
We aren't who we thought we were!

Its terrible because they I believe they mismanaged the draft. I don't think New England or Chicago wasn't going to take Lance. There was no need to trade up. They got scared.

I'm just not sold on Shanahan anymore. I see him outcoached and unable to adjust to what the other team is doing. I also see his gimmick plays as "Tired".

I'll still watch the games but I don't have that feeling in my heart like we're gonna kick the other teams ass, because I don't have that confidence we can.

I want that confidence in the team back. For that we need a better coach and QB IMO. Hope Trey pans out, no first rounders till 2024.
f**k it.

I still say Superbowl Win.

Lance gets sorted out and turn into Mahomes 2.0

A guy can dream.....
Lose next week at AZ, then coming out of the bye week, we completely dismantle the Colts. Next, in a showdown of 1st round QB's, Trey shows the world why we chose him over Fields for a win at Chicago. After that we only lose 2 more games, both to the Rams. Finish the season at 12-5 and secure a wild card. We lose in the 2nd round of the playoffs and look to next year, when we will have extra money from Jimmy's contract.

I am afraid you might be right.

I see Trey Lance as a 3 year project before we know whether he is boom, serviceable or bust.

So, the quickest wait will be 3 years and by then many of our current star players will already be towards the end of their big contracts, meaning we probably wouldn't have been able to take advantage of Lance's cheap contract, that is if he works out of course.

But, if Lance doesn't pan out? Then, I am afraid I can't look that far ahead to even have a rough guess how long it will take before we can get back to the big dance.

Sure hope he works out because if he doesn't this regime will be fired and we looking at another complete turn over, man the future not looking good, Kyle needs to right this ship ASAP while we have the prime years of these star players like bosa and kittle

That was what I meant, if we ever were to get to the point of firing Shanahan and therefore creeping into the next regime, first of all you wouldn't even know whether the organization would still go with Lance as the new HC would most likely want to sign or draft his own QB.

Let's be honest, Lance is not ready, so there really isn't all that much Shanahan can do at this point to fix him apart from keep getting him to play scouts team QB. I don't think you can just throw him in there now, he will look completely lost like yesterday. But, if they do, they may have to write off the entire season. Just to put things into context, when we started Kap, he had already been sitting behind Alex Smith for a year and a half. There is a reason why some teams/HCs believe in sitting rookies, same thing with Mahomes. To add, did you know Lance had only played 18 games in college? And do you know how many games did Kap play? 51!! This was why Kap was totally ready when his number was called.

Would it be better to waste this season and let Lance develop and grow or let him make these mistakes next year and waste that season also?

That's the kind of positivity we need around here.
I think Trey will improve as the season moves forward and he becomes comfortable with leading the offense. But there will be growing pains. There always are growing pains.

If the defense continues to give up 28 points a game, then I don't see this team winning many of those games. If they can cut that to 21-points or less, then we might have an outside chance at seven or eight wins.

But, lost in the QB dilemma is a defensive effort that is lacking. I'm not sure where the problem is. The talent is there. But the execution leaves much to be desired.
A high draft pick?

That is the executive decision the organization has to make. If they throw in the towel now after 4 games, they need to manage the fans' expectations.

You have to remember the idea from day one was to play Jimmy until Lance is ready which was why Jed said he is prepared to keep Jimmy all the way until the end of his contract if needed.

Kap didn't need to waste a season to get ready. He got himself ready behind the scene. You know something? When the back-up QB is ready and playing lights out as the scouts team QB, people (as in the players) talk which was exactly what happened with Kap. For Lance, may be he needs to ball out as the scouts team QB first.

I as a fan have don't have expectations of a superbowl. I would rather see this guy get the rookie mistakes out this year so next year is growth.
